Does anyone know anything about knitting machines?!

I am looking to buy a knitting machine ASAP (for my uni work) and realised that I haven't got a clue about them - having never used one! (I am a hand knitter)

I would like to create my own patterns, so have noticed that I would need a machine that uses punch cards and would hence need a punch.

Do all machines allow you to create your own pattern? It is a lot more confusing than I bargained for!

I bought one a number of years ago (german made). It did beautiful things, but I must confess it was just way too complicated for this little lady and it is now with a gentlemen who is "supposedly" selling it on commission. I will knit by hand if I really want to knit.

i dont know anything about knitting machines but i'll ask my friend whos doing a fashion degree and has used one.

Yosemite, I kind of had a feeling that they would be complicated - being used to just two simple needles and a bit of wool! It's a shame i'm not nearer to you, I could have bought your machine!
