My Dad hurt himself, so I have to take care of him. Sometimes he lies on the floor, and gets Mum to bring him something from the cold, cold place
and put it on him (I don't understand why he wants a cold thing on him
, but that's humans for ya -- weird
) and I lie down near him to keep him company, and he scritches me
...

That makes me very relaxed and I then go to sleep there...

...even if Mum does insist on using that flashy thing...

...and if you're going to do that, Mum, you could at least acknowledge that I'M CUTE

~~~~~~~
What is it with humans and those flashy things, anyway? My Mum came downstairs with that thing in her hand, from annoying my sister, and now she insists on annoying me, too...
Must you, Mum?
...enough, already!
...Ok. I'm not looking!
[Sooz, at this juncture, had made herself scarce -- oh, well!]
Fawn graciously accepts your kind accolades.
Daddy was installing a new garage door opener (he's been working on it for several weeks as time permitted). Three weeks ago today, his task was the sensors that stop it from closing on small things that dart underneath at inopportune moments. Not surprisingly, that involves working about 6 inches off the ground in weird twisted positions. Neither of us was particularly surprised when he felt somewhat "creaky" at the conclusion of this step, nor that he felt more creaky the next day. Neither of us was prepared for the day after that, though, when he was completely unable to function.
Long story short, he missed a couple of weeks of work, and the conclusion of his doctor and physio is a ruptured disc. He's feeling some better now, though still taking it pretty easy, and choosing his activities so that he doesn't commit himself to something that he can't back out of, if he discovers he's bitten off more than he can chew. Moving in the right direction, but slowly.
Fawn has been really sweet. She's not a mushy kitty, but she certainly is Daddy's girl, and she's fussing over him as well as she knows how.
She follows him around, from one spot to another (except the study -- that's Suzy's -- she also considers herself Daddy's girl).
