We have five cats and two dogs.
Copper, 12 yo Golden Retriever, everyone's best friend.
Shadow, 10 yo Black lab, also everyone's best friend.

Here are the five cats in order of who got here first...
1. O'Malley, 5 years with us, 12 YO male Siamese Mix, inherited due to dad's death
2. Maggie, 4 years with us, 4 YO Calico, arrived with a mulch delivery
3. Puma, 2 years, drive-by drop-off from a desperate unknown person, black, 15lb persian...one smooooooth cat!
4. Pilsner, 1 year, b/w male tabby from local humane group. Kind and sweet.
5. Hobie, 4 months, 1 YO tabby, sweet and TERRIFIED OF MAGGIE!

All cats are spayed/nuetered, indoor/outdoor, basically healthy. They come and go as they please, always arrive on time to eat, sleep where they want and for the most part are family-like with eachother.

The problem: Maggie has become very aggressive and hostile towards HOBIE and does nothing but go after him and terrorize him. I guess this one more cat just broke the camel's back. Any suggestions on how to mend the rocky road we now have?

Options are:

Leave Hobie out for a short time if Maggie is in, although he is not comfortable outside and gets anxious. He used to love to go out.

Leave Maggie out more, which I feel is betraying her...
Give Maggie exclusive access to our room at night. She used to be a pillow-sleeper until Hobie took her spot one time. I really think that this is what did it...
Give it time and see if they can resolve it on their own? For now we always put Maggie out and leave Hobie in during the day while we are gone at work/school.

And, Hobie has become a major territorial marker in my husband's closet...he had to discard his shoes it got so bad so I put a 2nd catbox in the closet and have treated the floor with bacterial soap and Feliway. For the past two days Hobie has used the box...Maggie is still out.

I would take Hobie to the vet and be sure he isn't coming down ill. Oftentimes, cats living together can sense before we see that another cat is coming down ill because their scent changes. Sounds to me like Hobie might be ill.

Mulch delivery?
That's a new one for me!

*hugs* good luck with everyone, I hope it's only temporary agression...

*giggles again muttering mulch*
