i have tried to get Adia to wear a collar, but im having trouble with it. I got a safety collar that pulls apart if she gets caught somehow, but that's not the issue. Whenever I put the collar on, she pulls one front paw up and just stands there and when she walks around, she limps. It's the strangest thing i've ever seen. The collar is in no way hindering her ability to walk that i can see!! I don't know what to do for this!!!

I would really like for her to wear a collar with tag when I move home in 2 weeks. I'm driving 11 hours one way, and though she'll be in a carrier, i would still feel safer if she had a tag on.

Anyone got any ideas?!
Thanks

Candace

Is she pulling your leg? If there isn't anything restricting her movement, I'd have to wonder about that -- they're smart little devils!

My cats too are strictly indoor, so they don't need collars.

And anyone who enters my house gets a rant about not standing in an open doorway and to watch out fer my cats when they leave! I have always kept us locked in, but even moreso now, because Hammie knows how to turn doorknobs. He's a "greeter" too, always waiting at the door when he hears the garage door go up or hears keys in the front door!

Lara's an indoor cat, but I give her a collar w/bell, just in case. She doesn't mind.

only two of my cats can waer collars.. the other two don't like it and end up getting it around the mouths and make themselves bleed. But I don't bother putting collars on them.. they are strictly indoor cats so i don't have to worry about them running away.

Always! Love my babies to much to let anything happen to them. I'm convinced I am doing the right thing when I found a cat wandering the hallway on the 4th floor of my apt. building. I went door to door with this cat to see who he belonged to. Turns out he belonged to my next door neighbor! Told him to put a tag on him because next time someone might just let him out of the bldg. instead of trying to find his owner.

I have 2 cats, Butters and Nikki Sixx, My female cat has been wearing a collar since she was a baby because that was the only way I can tell them apart, they are both black cats at that moment i didn't know my male was was well, male. lol. So every 4 months I change Buttter's collar, right now it's pink and once she has her babies, i'm going to put a pretty lavender colllar which I got already, but the problem is that it has no BELL, my cat loves her bells.

Both of my indoor cats wear collars all the time, and harness/leash outside.
I took the bells of because i read that the noiseis bad for their ears, plus it drove me nuts.

Lightning doesn't like collars, right now I am just starting to get him used to harness & leash to go outside with. The harness has the tags etc on it.

Lucky does something like that too. When i first put her collar or harness on her she would go completely limp like the collar was restricting all ability for her muscles to work. Now she only does that when she realizes im trying to guide her inside the house when we are out on walks. You have to give cats lots of credit...they sure do know how to outsmart their owners!

All of our cats wear collars until they are 1 y/o to get them used to the idea, then they are collar free unless we have to travel with them.
Ivory, the baby, will always wear a collar, in case she gets out, indicating that she is blind and on meds.

Hmm ... sounds like you've been outsmarted by your cat!
No offense intended; my cats have me well-trained.

As for collars, none of mine wear them (they're all strictly indoor cats, and all but one would never consider stepping outside unless absolutely forced), but I think I will try to get them used to wearing them just in case. Pepsi's kittens will all have collars by the time I find homes for them if I can find collars small enough.

I've found that ferret collars work well on tiny kittens.

Sabre has his collar on all the time. My parents find the bell to be the cutest thing in the world. And it drives one of my dogs insane, the other one is to old, so he kinda just looks at him..

I ahven't tried a collar on Oscar yet, but I think I'm supposed to have one on him here at the apartment. So I probably should invest in one and some tags. Oh and by the way, is it hard to get the cats to wear the collars at first?

Skat Kat wears a collar 24 hours a day 7 days a week...I dont have to worry about the bell being loud since there isnt one...I just find them very...girlie, and since he's already had his manhood sacrificed for the good of the neighborhood...i figure the lack of bell is the least i can do.

Mostly not. But sometimes you will run into an experience such as mine here

We bought collars but when we put Harvey's on him he scratched so much that he wore a spot of hair off and the bells bugged my husband way to much.

I bough a harness thing like you would put on your dog and a very long leash and I put that on Harvey and take him outside sometimes. He's doesn't know how to act with it on so he just sits there and I have to carry him outside and then all he does is flop around. He's such a nerd.
