Carol, lil Jasper told us the story of how he came to live with you and be a part of your family.

1. What are 2 favorite stories about Lil Jasper?
2. How did you pick his name?

Dear Katie, thank you for choosing me and lil jasper, we are honored
. now to answer your questions.

1. I had one cat as a child growing up, his name was Tiger and he was quite a character. My brother had asthma real bad and so we couldn't have any indoor pets. After Tiger went to the bridge, my parents wouldn't let me get another cat because of his allergys.
2. I have never been outside the United States except for Mexico, so I would probably choose the Santa Cruz mountains in California if we could afford it. I can't speak for Europe since I have never been there.
3. No, we used to drive from California to Indiana on school vacations as a child to visit relatives so we passed by it several times, but my mother was always in too much of a hurry to stop and see it. I wish I could have though.

Dear Fwan, I have been partway across the United States, California, Nevada, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, New Mexico, Missouri, Illinios, Indiana, Kentucky, Texas, Colorado, Oaklahoma, Nebraska, Oregon, Ohio and also have been to Mexico. At this time I have only Jasper, but I have had dogs, guinea pigs, hamsters, rabbits, birds, goats and horses in the past. Aside from cats I guess my next favorite is dogs.

Dear Bobbie, I guess the first story is the one about the bird that was hopping up and down in front of the storm screen teasing him! I swear that bird KNEW that Jasper couldn't get him so was taking full advantage, and poor Jasper was about to die of frustration, finally diving into the screen and bopping his nose TWICE. That was when I went outside to scare the bird away so it would stop teasing him! He was a grouch for two days afterwards, I am not sure whether it was because of his sore nose, or because I scared away the bird. I guess my second favorite story would have to be when he decided to show me what a smart boy he was and took his water fountain apart and came trotting into the livingroom proudly carrying his "prize", the filter cartridge from his petsmart fountain
. He taught me that if I don't want him to take it apart, I had better NOT let him watch me put it together in the first place
. As far as his name goes, I had had him about 4 days and was trying to decide when I happened to catch "Living Free" on TV. The leader of Elsa's cubs was named "Jasper" for his brave and adventuresome nature and I thought it fit MY jasper to a "T". Especially since at the time my brave 4 1/3 pound kitten was trying to knock 18 pound Mr. Butch off of my lap while I was watching it on TV because he was jealous!

Dear Diane, thank you.

My favorite author is a hard one since I love to read. I guess if I have to pick just one it would be Andre Norton and my favorite book would be "Mark of the Cat/Year of the Rat". I guess my favorite hobby would be gardening. As far as crafts, I like to sew and to do ceramics and other "crafty" stuff
.

Hi Katie, humm, your first question is really making me think hard....

1. I guess my favorite movie is "Fried Green Tomatoes" but I have quite a few other favorites too

2. Yes, I went to Arroyo High School, in San Lorenzo, California and graduated in 1971
, now you all know how ooooold I am....

I didn't go to college because I couldn't afford to be a vetenarian like I wanted to.

3. Sometimes I listen to music while on the computer, but I don't try to watch tv at the same time because I can't concentrate on two things visually at once!

4. I was really enjoying some of the posts in Paws and Reflect where others had written as their cats, and since I try hard to understand mine and to see the world through their eyes, I decided to try to write as Jasper since he was a little kitten at that time and was having a lot of new and exciting adventures including trying hard to be friends with my now bridge kitty Mr. Butch with limited success. After I lost Mr. Butch the first thread died out and was lost totally during the crash. After a while when I felt better I started a new thread just about Jasper and have had the great priviledge to get to know a lot more of the forum members and their wonderful kittys
.

Thanks Bobbie, and NO, Jasper does NOT like to be brushed, but when I use the "love glove" he is usually more patient, unless of course I am trying to brush under his elbows, his "pantaloons" or his tail
. I try to brush him some everyday, especially now that it is shedding season, yuk

Dear Carol -

That's one of Bobbie's favorite movies, too!

I graduated from HS in 1961 so you're a youngster to me.

1. When did you learn about Ragdoll or Ragamuffin cats and what attracted you to them?

2. Have you ever tried Feliway? If so, did it work for you the way you hoped it would?

Hi Carol, welcome to the Spotlight. I'm just catching up with this thread and Jasper sounds like a really smart cat.
Here's a few questions:

1. After you had your first cat, how long was it before you had another one?

2. Do your husband and sons share your love of cats?

3. How does Jasper wake you up in the morning?

Congratulations Carol! (and Li'l Jasper)

This time I'll ask 2 questions since the spotlight is on both of you.

Dear Carol,
Have you noticed any similarities between raising 2 boys and caring for Jasper?
Dear Li'l Jasper,
Who's your favorite human after meowmy?

Dear Katie, about September of year before last I began to have a very strong feeling that I was going to lose Mr. Butch soon
. I decided that I would go ahead and get a kitten so that when he had to leave me it wouldn't be quite so hard, and also as a companion for him since he seemed to be lonely. I was looking for a large, mellow and laid back cat since that was what Butch was, but Butch was a moggie that adopted me, so since I couldn't go and get another one like him, I tried to find a breed that had the closest match to his puursonality. I researched several breeds and finally settled on a Ragdoll because they sounded the most like him, except for maybe a persian in temperment, but where I live is very very hot in the summer and I didn't want to get a cat that I would have to have shaved every year. The most important thing to me was the temperment/personality and ragdolls are famous for theirs, as well as being easier to care for in the coat department. AND their fur is unbelieveably soft and much easier to groom
, also they are dependent on their humans, although Jasper can be very INDEPENDENT when he is miffed about something!

As far as Feliway, I haven't tried that because I haven't really seen a need for it, I was considering getting some to ease the "kitten introduction" but since the adoption fell through, I haven't tried it. If I ever find a cat/kitten that seems suitable as a companion for him, I may try it then.

Hi ther Shenandoah and Humble

1. I get Nutro Natural Choice Kitten dry food as much as I want. I also get meat and somtimes som tuna(peoples) but I have decided that I don't want to eat canned kitten food anymore.(
Meowmy)

2. I like Pounce, both tarter control and hairball formula, but not the regular soft treats!

3. My birthday is April 20th! I will be 1 year old this month!

4. I like to sleep with MEOWMY! I likes the bed best with meowmy and daddy, but if meowmy's acid reflux is bothering her and she gets up to sleep in her recliner chair, I get up and sleep under her feet or beside her chair
