Toss out any plastic food or water bowls. Replace them with metal or ceramic or glass. Scrub out the dishes after each feeding with hot water and liquid soap let them air dry. Use hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball and gently scrub the area after the cat eats daily.

how old are your cats? My marsh had stud tail before he got neutered, and i was told that his condition, along with feline acme, most often occurs in un-neutered males.

Thanks Hissy.

Rare, one is male approx 2.5, neutered. The other is female, approx 3 and spayed. I also have to other neutered males. One not even 1 and the other 16 and neither have this.

Amber, the female has it the worst. Toby, my bengal has it only slightly. However neither have it as badly as I've seen in some photographs.
