Excuse my being a baby, but I want things to stop changing so much! I know i know...it's just the way life is and it's how we grow and all that. but still!

I have a friend moving away, we are all sad about it. I lost a close family friend recently(88 years young) who passed two years ago -she was the one I spent hoidays with after Mum died. Then I used to LOVE my job now I hate it, I used to live in the best building in the world, but the man who took care of it and tended the yard, and kept order, moved away and the landlords aren't replacing him, the yard looks horrible now....and on and on...

Well I know new good things will come evenually if I am patient, but it's not the best of times right now!

It's tough sometimes. Change can be very stressful, and it doesn't really matter how much you tell yourself that it is part of life - it is still stressful. So, you are allowed to feel stressed, ok:-)?

One thing that I have found helpful whenever the world is turning too fast and I want to get off is to take a small notebook, and every day - sometimes several times a day - write down in it all off the good things around me. They don't have to be big things - in fact, most of them aren't - but things like 'the coffee tastes good today', 'the sun is shining' ' I love how the birds sound so Springlike", "the man in the car ahead of me waved hello", just little observations. What this helped me do is realize that there were lots of good things going on around me, and that while lots of big things might be changing, the little things are stable. It helped me keep things in a somewhat better perspective.

Just a little something that you can try. . . . good luck

Thanks, that is a very wise thought! I will try, I have to attend a dinner party tomorrow and say goodbye to my friend, it's just hard.

Marge, I hate change too. Mostly because change never seems to be for the good for me.......but it's something that happens and we have to deal with it, no matter how much we dislike it. I 've come to find out that half the time, the change I was dreading wasn't so bad after all.

My grandmother talks like this <wall>. A lot of her friends are now passed on and since she doesn't travel or have a lot of spendable income, her life is 'limited' - and she complains! LOL.. i think the best think older people can do is join clubs and age-similar groups

Right and often what we dread is good for us. But I think when there is SO much of it at once it's just hard.

Well said there!
I feel like that alot...but over the years I rmember more and more what my grandmother told me, and that is, that God deals our cards face down to us for a reason....if we knew what was coming it would take all the life out of livin'.
