I'm the Text message queen, I would rather text than talk on a phone anyday. plus I can send messages without anyone in the office over hearing the conversation

Hey there I have been up to my eyeballs in tax returns and it's not over yet. Only 14 days and 17 minutes left I just got the chance to get on here so I thought I would drop in

Yep, I text quite a bit. Either because I have a teenager therefore I text (as someone said above) or if hubby/daughter want to reach me at work but it's not urgent, they send a text and I can pick it up when I've finished teaching - unlike my students I don't keep the phone in the lecture room .

It's cheaper than talking on my mobile.

I've used Texting for years, I have a deaf friend, and although she has an implant, it's easier to text her.

Also when the kids were at university and I didn't know where they'd be I'd text them to see if it was OK to ring for whatever reason. (I often still do that)

I can't be doing with all the short hand though. I write them as if I'm writing a note.

I received a text in the early hours of this morning for the first time from Danielle!!

Once she saw this thread she realised that she had my mobile number and tried it. Needless to say a few have went back and forth throughout the morning!!

We text each other for the silliest things such as my next door neighbour who tells me the kettles on for a coffee, or telling me to stick the kettle on!
my bf does that when he's on his way home from work, telling me to put the kettle on etc
post #42 of 53
Yup! I´ll do it too!!! Is so easy and cheap too..

I can text on my mobile and tend to use it more for texting that I do phoning. I don't have many people that text me due to not many friends but I always love getting them and replying. I am now a pretty quick texter

Yep, yep do use text. In fact introduced it to one friend too, actually introduced to her cell-phones by buying it as a present.

Anyway, why don't you test your skills. The current world faster texter can churn out the following in 48 seconds, without the aid of dictionary/predictive text:

The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.

I'm frightened to ask what one of those look like? Is it an apron that goes over your head with frilly thingies around it?!

No, that would be a BONNET.
I'm a teenager, so course I text!

Ok next question - how many of you can text without looking?

I get 1500 texts a month for $10 and I sent roughly 50 texts per day. I love texting! It's so easy to keep in touch. I taught my Nana(63) how to text last year and now she is a text addict too!

Cool thread, Susie!
Good for your nana Sam!, she's never to old to learn
post #53 of 53
Yup! She's very clever, in only the short timespan of a two years she has learnt how to use a computer, the internet and texting. I'm very proud of her!
