So, I got some cat grass to grow for the first time ever...well, it's grown, and if I put it anywhere near Conner he hisses at it. So I just stuck it in the kitchen on the floor for him to explore on his own. Now he just runs in the kitchen like a mad-cat, hisses at it and runs. It's very funny, but I bought it as a treat for him, and he'd prob. like it if he just tried it and stopped hissing for a second, any suggestions?

LOL! Sprinkle a little bit of catnip in it and see what happens.

maybe if he saw you playing in it... if mommy can do it..... it might make him curious, or maybe you could pull off a couple of blades of it and make sure he sees you doing this and get some of their juices on you. if he doesnt come over during this, i would do some play so that he could smell it on your hands... lol, a cat afraid of grass.... if he never eats it you could just use it for feng sui!

sounds good to me! Maybe pluck a few blades and give them to him. Put them by his nose... make him smell them, and then place them in front of him. Then, slowly pull it towards the grass.

I have to say, I've never seen a cat afraid of grass as you described! It gave me quite a chuckle to hear you say how he'd hiss at it, then run off!

I would imagine that maybe some cat nip will get him into it...

I keep thinking of a cat running by grass, hissing!

Yes I know, it is so terribly sad. He actually ripped one blade out and tossed it fiercely with his mouth. I do not know why he resents the grass, lol. But it looked like he was 'showing' it who was boss! He has stopped the hissing, but now he just glares at it suspiciously when walking by it. It is the funniest thing,,lol! He's a hoot, Ill-be-it a crazy one though!

I've never seen cats have a problem with grass, but my boyfriend's cat was afraid a poster he had on his wall. Poor guy hid under the bed and slinked around for days after we put it up. It is the image of a character from the Final Fantasy movie...a normal looking person, nothing scary. Who knows what these cats get in their heads.

Jamie has been doing the same thing with a new doormat outside our back door. Since it's new, it's "suspicious".

Yeah, that is strange. Like many cats, Nano figured out "grass" on her own and eats it when she cares to. But give poor Conner a chance...

Has he been outside before??? That maybe why he's hostile to it.

Well, none of my cats have problems with grass, although Erik has a problem with anything electronic, especially rectangular box shaped, like a remote control, a phone, hell, even a book. He will randomly go up to these items and whack at them and run away!

Ziggy also had a problem with some of the posters on my wall. Interstingly he tore down one whole poster and half of the other one. The funny part is they were both puppy posters!
I didn't think cats could make out details on posters and such! Freaky!

*falls over laughing about the grass again*
