hello fellow feline fans, as the heading notes i'm new to cats and new to the board (in the sense that i finally signed up - but i've been browsing it for a couple months). here's the breif story of how i came to be an admitted cat lover...
my wife always had cats growing up. i never had any animals and was (taught to be) strongly opposed. after 4 years of gentle coaxing and exposure to her parents cats when visiting my in-laws, i finally gave-in to my inner fancy and surprised my wife in january with the announcement that i was ready for a cat. we ran around to local shelters and finally found the purrrfect little girl (ChumChum). she was born in the shelter and was 14 weeks when we got her. she has been an absolute doll since we brought her home and our relationship is mutually satisfying. i never imagined i would develop such an affinity for these furry beings but i found myself spending as much time as i could with her, buying her toys galore, built a 7ft cat tree, the best food, etc. i'm sure you know what i mean. because we both work during the day she was at home for 8-9 hours alone everyday...you guessed it - we got another cat! on a bit of a whim, i went to the shelter and brought home an 8 month old gorgeous black medium haired male (Luciano). i followed advice i gleaned from this site re: introducing Luciano to ChumChum and they reside together happily now. so there you have it, i went from a rigid "no animal" policy to having two cats share my bed. truly, they are remarkable creatures!!!
[note: i tried to attach pics but haven't figured that out yet]
EDIT: i've now linked up to some pics i stored on photobucket. hope you enjoy!
