Ok, here is the story... some of this is graphic so you'll know what I'm dealing with.

I operate a rescue. A mother cat w/four kittens came in about 2 weeks ago... the mom was showing signs of runny eyes, sneezing, and turned into congestion. I started her on amoxi drops and Terramycin for her eyes.

It's been a roller coaster with this litter. First their eyes started matting shut... yellowish liquid came out when I wiped them with a warm wet towel. We started all four on the Terramycin, thinking it was limited to the eyes. They got better actually... no amoxi yet.

About 4 days ago, I noticed they were getting worse again. Although the mom is much better and not showing any signs of being sick, the kittens are not well at all. All of them have one reddened, runny eye... two of the four have eyes that are matting all the time now. And when I get them unmatted, all I see is swollen tissue and very little eye. They are having trouble breathing... I'm worried that they either aren't eating or can't eat because they can't breathe. They are breathing from their mouth... at least two of them are, and one of those appears very thin now.

Every time I call my vet, they say the same thing... URI, hard to fight, contagious, has to run its course, etc. We have the kittens on Amoxi drops now, but I'm not noticing any improvement. I tried bottle feeding the very thin one... and as I thought, poor little thing couldn't eat because it's got a choice of either eating or breathing. I gave Bene Bac to two of the four, hoping that will help.

I'm afraid I'm going to lose them... they'll be 6 weeks old April 12th. Any suggestions? Please call me if you want... everyone has my number since we have a rescue.

I rescue as well and since I started putting GSE in the water and the food of the cats and the kittens in my home, URI have been a thing of the past. I also take it myself and have used it on my other animals. In four years, I have only had two colds and I used to get bronchitis, pleurisy and strep at least five times a year-

GSE (get the liquid) Grapefruit Seed Extact- 3 drops in the canned food, 2 drops in formula, 10 drops in water bowls-

So do you think it would help the kittens? And would I just give them a drop plain? They're just not doing well... I can't get anything to come out of their noses (tried sucking it out with a tiny syringe... didn't work). Is the GSE pretty quick to work? They're so cute... take a look at their pics (this was right as they were coming down with the uri)... on my site, toward the bottom, Noah, Misty, Honey, Barry and Stormy. I have them isolated and so far no one else has come down with it.
