Hi,
Im new on here and have a birthing question.
I have a cat called scoobie (son named her after famous dog! MEN!!) she had it away with a rather dishy looking male approx 62 days ago (wrote it on calender) today i have noticed that she has lost a large amount of mucus with streaks of red in. and in the last hour been suffering with a runny tummy (cant spell d word) shes been very sleepy and drinking lots of water. she has also been nesting for the past week all over the house, mainly in the wash basket. i now have her in my bedroom as i have 2 children and other cats. i have no idea if this is the inset of labour as her mother molly, gave birth behind tv at 7 in the morning, we never new she was preg as she is huge black fluffy thing.
can any one advise???

Hi,
Yes it sounds like she has started. Keep a close watch on her for the next 12 hours or so i bet she'll be having the kittens within that time but could be another 24-48 hours. Is she having contractions?

Hi,
Erm good question, she keeps quivering around her hind quaters and wants her tummy constantly rubbed. other than that im not sure. her "bump" has got more lumpy if that makes any sense and when ever she stretches she messes every where, thats when shes not sleeping or drinking water.

You can see and feel contractions. Feel her tummy toward the side. A large hard lump will rise up and stay for about 1-2 minutes and then go back down, that is a contraction. It feels different then the kittens kicking.
My cat had pretty bad diherria when she went into labor too.
Is there lots of kitten movement in her belly? There should be.

Hi,
every now and again she gets quite a lump and then it goes back to being the normal rippling movement across her tum. when her tum goes hard she stretches her front paws and gives quite a big "sigh" or pant. shes still licking herself alot and wont let me out of her sight. she still has diarriah but not as bad, plus she seems to be straining a little when she has "finished". I sound like an over protective mother lol but after al she is my baby
