To make a long story short, I interviewed for a job back in October that fell through at the last minute. I liked them, they liked me, the company they were planning on subcontracting with just chose another vendor.
They called me back 2 weeks ago and we've had a long telephone tag time of it trying to set up a time for me to meet with the representative from the Company they are going to subcontract with (they decided they needed 2 vendors). After a lot of cancellation and really abyssmal communication, I told the recruiter I was no longer interested.
The recruiter, his boss and his boss' boss spent this morning trying to convince me to go on the interview. They said their client (the subcontractor) absolutely wanted me and only me. It was just a matter of getting the approval from the other company's person. I had already made up my mind not to go, and hadn't even dressed for an interview today.
Finally, I made an offer I figured would be completely unacceptable, for an outrageously high salary along with immediate health care coverage on date of hire. I figured they'd either laugh or tell me where to get off.
Nope, they said, "Done."
So I french braided my hair in a hurry, found a blazer I knew I had in my office for a reason, and we met over lunch. The interview went, I think, very well. I am going to meet the department manager one day next week, and then a decision will be made.
This is for $20000 more than I am making now. This will be absolutely mind bogglingly wonderful if I do get this job!! (Just think of all the cat toys I will be able to buy!)
Please keep your fingers crossed for me!
