Thanks for all the encouraging words you guys! I assure you I will be right on TCS as soon as the kitty is settled in to give you all the scoop! Brendan gets jealous of the amount of time I spend with you guys, so I'm sure he's already expecting it!!

I am SOOOO frustrated right now.
This week is supposed to be the week Brendan gets his new kitten. Well, I'm talking to Brendan about an hour ago and mention that since we both have tomorrow off it would be a good day to make sure he has all of his kitty necesseties and all that. WELL, he then says, "You're not going to like this." OH GREAT! Don't you just love it when people lead into things with that statement?!?! So I ask what, and Brendan tells me, "Cara is getting another cat." Cara is one of his roommates in the house he lives in now. She has a kitten that she already takes poor care of (IMO, and probably most everyone here's IMO, if you met her) and now she just RANDOMLY decides to get another one. What has me so pissed about it is that Brendan is now a PAYING roommate in this house that he shares with his friend Eric and Eric's younger sister Cara and she has the nerve to simply TELL HIM she's getting another cat without any discussion first when she KNOWS Brendan had plans of getting a kitten. What's even worse is that on the original lease (which Brendan's dad sent back without signing because it was messy and so technically no one has signed it) the landlord (who is Eric and Cara's mother) stated: "Each resident may have ONE pet." ONE PET! I know they didn't sign it, but that still says to me that her mother doesn't want her having TWO cats! I'm wondering if she's even mentioned it to her! This girl is 18 (I believe, perhaps 19) and terribly immature. Her actions sound to me like, "I love kitties and I saw this other one that needs a home and I'm going to have it"...even though she doesn't give her current cat enough attention!
Apparently she told Brendan she was picking it up today (this was yesterday that she told him that), however, when I was on the phone with Brendan she was leaving for the beach and putting off getting the cat. Now, if your priority is the BEACH rather than picking up your new kitten and getting it situated there's a problem! I'm hoping she just decides not to go through with it or perhaps even forgets (which with her I think could actually be a possibility). The cat she has now is allowed out without so much as a collar and there are a few other things she does that really burn me up.

What really has me upset though is that Brendan was anticipating getting his cat for over a month, and if this second cat comes into the house, he's not going to get it. Why? Because he's afraid that her two cats won't be getting enough attention from her and feels that three cats is one too many. He's pissed about it, but he won't say anything to her! IMO, as a responsible roommate you need to discuss any living creature that you wish to bring into the house with your other roommates. It's unfair to simply spring something like that on people, and it's unfair to the animal to be so spontaneous about it when you're already not a responsible cat owner. I don't think she even thought much about getting it, just saw it and decided she would. Obviously she didn't think at ALL about Brendan or even consider that he was planning on getting a kitten THIS WEEK. ARG this is so frustrating to me. I think that he needs to sit her down and have a talk about it. Explain to her that he (being a responsible pet owner) has put a LOT of thought into getting a kitten himself and has made sure that he is completely prepared for its arrival, and therefore RANDOMLY deciding to get a new kitten for herself is hardly fair seeing as how Brendan even went through the process of discussing his idea of getting a kitten with both roommates.

I'm sorry this is such a long rant but I'm really upset about this. Brendan has been excited about it for a while and now this little brat is ruining it, and I'm afraid that she'll continue being a poor meowmy or continue to become worse with TWO cats in her possession.

I'll let you guys know what ends up happening.

Oh man Kath, that is such a bum deal!!!!!!!!
Don't get me STARTED on how she apparently cares so much for her kitties!!!!!

What's worse is that she is the daughter of the landlady, so she can get away with having 2 pets
. That is just so unfair for Brendan!

Is he absolutely bound to living there? It just sounds like if she doesn't get his input on things like THIS, it'll lead to even BIGGER problems for the duration of the lease.
I'm so sorry
I know you two were sooo looking forward to bringing home a kitten. Keeping my fingers crossed that SOMETHING works out in y'alls favor!
Keep us posted!

Thanks so much Amy! He is bound there, and from what I can see so far he's ready to attempt to deal with any of her stuff to live with his friend. I was too upset when he told me to say much, so I'm going to see what he plans on doing when I talk to him before he heads to work. I really hope something works out, Brendan would make a great cat owner.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!! That makes me mad too just reading about it! What a selfish little ***** ** ****!!!
I hope somebody tears a stirp into her and gets it through her thick skull that Brendan needs a kitty more than she does, especially since she sounds like a flaky care giver!

Thank you Ryan! I'm so glad people here understand my frustration!!! And believe me, she's a flake PERIOD! I talked to Brendan again about half an hour ago and he said that he's going to mention it to Eric, his other roommate, since he's her older brother and Brendan doesn't think Cara will give a hoot if Brendan tries to say anything to her. Brendan's going to be so disappointed if he isn't able to get this kitty, and that girl will forever be on my crap list if she actually goes through with it, which believe me, is NOT a good place to be!

Thanks Lacey and Sam! I'll find out in about an hour whether she actually bothered to pick it up today, or if it was too much of a hassle in her busy little world.
