My cat had 5 kittens 3 weeks ago. One was born smaller than the others and is now about half the size of the others. It can walk barely and it's eyes are open. I don't understand why it's so small. It is also boney compared to the others which seem fat. I think maybe the others aren't letting it feed and it will only get worse because they appear to be much stronger. About every couple of hours the mother gets out of their bed and lies beside it and I'll place that kitten out there with her so it can feed without competition. I'm concerned the little bugger won't make it. Any advice is much appreciated.

Awww...poor little thing.
The only thing I can guess is that it is the runt of the litter.
I don't know what the protocal is for a situation like this, but I know what I would do - I'd go to the pet store, or vet, and get that special milk for kittens, and I'd feed it by eye dropper. If you do so, don't forget you will have to stimulate the kitten in order for it to go to the bathroom.
Good luck, and hopefully someone with better advice will be along soon!

Please supplement this little one with added formula with special pet vitamin drops in it as well as GSE you can find the recipe at www.kitten-rescue.com

Thanks for all the help. Unfortunately the kitten passed away this morning, I would have never thought it last night.

I had a runt like that once. He was very small, but seemed healthy. We found him dead one morning. We don't know which one, but, we know he either died of a heart attack, or something similar, or he died of malnutrition. I wish we could have caught it before. He was eating solid food, just the others would push him out alot. I'd set some aside for him, and I guess he just wasn't used to eating the normal amount, because he wouldn't each much. He ended up dieing. I hope the same does not happen to your kitty. Luckily, you have TCS, and a vet to help you out, like we did not.

Good luck! I'll say a prayer for the little guy!
