I am hopefully moving cross country from Louisiana to Minnesota this summer. It (according to Mapquest) will take 23 hrs. I plan on driving for 3 days, since I hate driving, I don't want to be on the road much. I have been doing alot of research how to get there, and my husband offered to drive the stuff over and let me take a plane, but the planes only accept one cat per person, so that is out. I don't want to drive in my car(it's a camry and the cats would have to be in their small carriers. I am thinking of renting a cargo van from U-haul. Here is the link:http://www.uhaul.com/guide/?equipment=cargovan. So I can fit my kids, books toys and computer in it, and buying this:http://www.drsfostersmith.com/produc...1&N=2002&Nty=1. This way the cats will be able to use the litter box and have room to move around. Is this a good idea? Any one have any better suggestions? Thanks for the opinions.

I like the cage you're looking at... but I'm not sure about the Cargo Van. A minivan might be better where you can take out the seats you don't need but still have some cargo space. I think the cargo van from uhaul only seats two safely (in actual seats with seatbelts) - but I could be wrong on that.

Take a look at Alamo -- they have a minivan and an astro van...

Good luck with the move! I hate moving, it's sucks!

Thanks for the info, but a mini van would be too small. I am not going to be taking my furniture, and plan to mail some things that are light in big boxes by ups, but I need the cargo van because I need to take this computer and about 200 or so books, and 4 boxes of my kids toys. I can't leave this behind. I wish I could. I am not sure how many people can fit in a cargo van from uhaul myself, but my son is going to be 15, and is big( he looks 17) I am sure I can get him someplace on a chair or something that is secure in the van. Thanks for the good wishes also. cheryl

I haved moved my cats a couple of times by plane and by car so here is my advice...while providing food , water and litter is always good dont be suprised if they don't drink,or use the litterbox they tend to get thrown into a tailspin and wont do what they normally would. If you are concerned call your vet and ask for rescue remedy or even a slight seditive.Your cats might feel more safe in their carriers if they are anxious in the car.If they are ok in their carriers then let them out.Theres going to be alot of meowing so I suggest you bring yourself some asprin!Good luck If you have anymore questions you can send me a message.
