Fred and Scooter were having one of their outside visits yesterday since it was such a nice day. I was sitting on the porch watching them, and a little white head popped out the door. Pearl came out and rolled around on the porch, sunning her tummy. She has only ventured outside once in her life, when she was very small. She decided she did not like it and sat down and cried until I came and rescued her. Some people walked by and scared her back in, but she came back out after they were gone. She stayed on the porch for quite awhile, and came right in with me when I called them in for dinner. I never thought I would see that. Then later when I was laying on the couch watching tv, she came and laid on me for about 2 hours. I finally had to get up, as much as I hated to. She has never done that in her nearly 5 years. I am just pleased beyond belief!

Wow...Pearl is really making leaps and bounds in bravery!!! What a courageous little girl!

Hope this is OK with Rebecca... Many of you don't know Pearl's story, and why this really is such a huge step for her to take. Here's Pearl's story: Precious Pearl

Thank you so much for sharing Pearls story. Especially the link to her story. I have had an absolutely hideous day at work and this just lifted my spirits. I just love stories like this.

Thanks so much for posting that link to Pearl's story. I am so proud of my sweet little girl. My sweetie was so jealous that she got in my lap first. He is just crazy about her. He is so proud of her progress, you would think she was his child.

Aw, that's such a moving story. Good on your daughter for making a stand.
And good on you for taking in Pearl and giving her a loving home.

She's doing so well

I wish I could have gotten to my camera last night. She was acting like a little nut, something she has never done.
We both had some aching muscles, so I sprayed some Biofreeze, a topical pain reliever, on our necks, backs, shoulders. Pearl came to bed with us, and went crazy over it. First she discovered it on me, and was all over me, kneading and purring. She hugged my head, and snuggled her little face down in my neck. Then she discovered it on my s/o and really went wild. He was lying on his stomach, and she was on his back, sucking on his shirt, drooling and wallowing on her back, kicking up her paws, and making little squeaky noises. Then I caught her trying to steal the bottle. It was hilarious. I hope she comes back tonight, I have the camera on the night stand.
(Don't worry, I check the ingredients on everything that comes into the house to make sure it won't harm kitties if they get in to it. The manufacturer assured me it was safe.)

What a tragic beginning, yet beautiful ending to Pearl's story up until now
After reading this story, I can see why you are so extremely excited about her coming out. I'm so happy for you, your hubby, and, of course, Pearl

Oh that is SO cute with the Biofreeze! We have it at our house too...wonderful stuff! But our kitties don't do anything like THAT!

You both must have been grinning ear to ear with Pearl acting like that! Sounds like that final barrier of total trust was just suddenly smashed down with her.
What a momentous time for her!!!
