You know, I am about 20 pounds overweight (well, according the BMI reader thingie!), and I actually found that when I was thinner, I was not ONLY miserable because I had to be a food nazi, I also felt less healthy overall. Again, doing everything in moderation works for me... and I figure the odd chocolate binge won't kill me.

I was stick skinny until I got a desk job and a boyfriend who could afford to take me out to dinner a lot.

It takes a lot of sushi to put on weight. I can eat a lot of sushi.

I'm still pretty skinny though, but now I try to excersize.

I have gained weight over time (thanks to college), but for the past year or so, my weight has stayed the same. I would like to lose some though, but just can't seem to. I am not even a drinker! It makes me ill to see all of those skinny girls who party every night. I do hear a lot of those "skinnies" that were in college complain that it catches up with them later. Hope my body has the opposite effect.

I'm glad you brought out that point, Carrie. It's something few people understand, and I feel very self concious about being too thin at times. I especially tend to lose weight during times of stress. Right now, I'm trying to gain weight for the Summer. Most people don't realize that to tell someone they're skinny is just as hurtful as telling someone they're fat.

I've always been on the small side (104 lbs then after Jennifer 110 lbs.). Then after my hysterectomy 120 lbs. Now at the ripe old age of 58 in the past 6 months I've gained some weight - not huge amounts but enough to make me uncomfortable. I'm not sure, but it just might be the half container of Haagen Daas ice cream I've been eating every night for the past 4 months. Usually we eat only home prepared foods and a good variety so we don't have weight issues. My husband says we eat better than most folks and he is still the same slim fellow he was when we married 27+ years ago. Lucky? Definitely.

Steph! Hey, maybe you and I should share this excess of fat that I have? I'd be more than willing to let you have it! But seriously, it would be nice if folks didn't care so much about how others look,......to me, that's one of the great things about the 'net, and TCS, even though I see pictures, I really and truly picture folks as being "just normal" both in height and weight!

I'm glad you posted this. It's hard to tell people that you feel too skinny. Espcially being a girl; no one wants to hear it. And it is hurtful to hear that you're "sooo skinny" all the time.

I love my sports and so if I don't eat enough I will be too thin. But, even during the holidays I don't seem to gain a pound. It's kind of ironic that I'm often asking my boyfriend, "does this make me look too skinny?". I can be very self concious too!

Come on over! Lol, I've actually done pretty good lately, 'cause I've been doing all the "taste testing" for him, and I haven't gained any weight during this time!

That's so true, telling someone they're to skinny is just like telling someone they're to big
.

God Stephanie, you are just too damn sweet!

But I completely understand your dilemma... I once had a friend who was also very self conscious of her weight, as she was very thin, and had a difficult time putting on weight. I imagine it is just as difficult to deal with that issue as it is to be overweight.

Well, here's to you gaining 10 pounds in time for summer! Cheers!

I know, I know, it sounds weird... but I am too. When you're 6'4", though, well, I'm sure you can imagine the height/weight ration thing goin'. Not so good. Carbo-load doesn't help much, though. All I eat is pasta, one of the "consequences" of living in Italy. The dancing and walking everywhere doesn't help much, either.

Yes, it really is. I thoroughly enjoy being a tall, thin girl and like to stay at the weight I am at right now (5'8", 124). However, I am someone who loses all appetite when I'm sick, stressed, depressed, or anxious and I'll quickly lose 10 pounds. I found it so hurtful when a couple of summers ago, I was having a really hard time and had very little appetite thanks to how crappy I felt and one of my friend's mothers said to me, "Are you SURE you don't want a sandwich? You really look like you could use it." That was coupled with a disgusted look and a once over. I was already depressed and that surely wasn't helpful. You're absolutely right, Stephanie, people don't realize that "skinny" remarks are hurtful.

I know how that feels, i'm only 5ft 2, i weigh about 8 stone now, but i lose wight so, so easily, especially when i'm stressed, which is most of the time

I hate it when people think i dont eat, when i actully eat like a horse

Though i'm happy with my weight right now, it's even harder trying to keep it on!!
