Should I be worried?

I just had my 5 month old Sui vaccinated for Rabies and feline distemper today at 9:30 this morning. She has slept all day, not eaten much and is alert but not as active as usual. I just don't remember vaccinations being this rough on my others.

Some cats will react differently to the vaccines, and others don't even change a bit- Keep your eye on her and if she is still lethargic in the morning- call the vet-

Thanks, MA. I'm taking her to the vet in the morning to be spayed although now, I may change the appointment given her behavior since her vaccinations.

I would reschedule the spay appointment for sometime next week, just to give her a chance to bounce back from the vaccines. Give the vet a call in the morning.

If anyone were to ask me my opinion on giving these two vaccines at the same time, I would tell them to wait at least 10 days to two weeks between them to avoid such reactions.

I agree with the call to the vet in the morning. Give her some time to regroup and let her immune system calm down before spaying her.

Sui is still sorta zonked out. I took her to the vet this morning to make sure she isn't having a bad reaction. Vet says she'll be ok with some rest and TLC. I had to go back to my original spay appointment of May 24. I know Sui and she just isn't up to surgery right now, no matter what my vet may say. I don't think he's being careless but I just know my girl better than he does. Geez, I hope and pray she doesn't go into heat before then but if she does, it would be better than putting her through surgery right now

Thanks so much for your advice, I'll know for next time. I just don't know what to think!!! Every single vet I've ever been to has told me different things. I wonder if indoor cats would be better off without all of those vaccines pumped in their system. I only get distemper/rabies for mine, anyway. As each new kitty came into the house, I kept each one separated until I was sure they were disease free so I think most of the vaccines are overkill. Again, thanks so much for your help!

Sui is absolutely gorgeous (well they all are, but I have a special thing for torties now.. lol)

I don't think that the vaccines are overkill. Better safe than sorry, in case the little scoundrels ever make it through the door to the outside in a moment of human weakness

I don't think it's too unusual. Milo just had all his vaccines and the first 2 times he was his off the wall usual self. The last set of shots, which I believe was rabies and distemper, he had the same sort of reaction you described. Within a day or so he was fine. The vet told me every time that he might be a little out of it and tired. So I guess it's something that's kind of expected.
