I thought it would be fun to learn about what kind of music everyone here listens to!

Feel free to post if you would like to share who your favourite band/singer/composer is.

My favourite band of all time are The Stone Roses.
And Oasis are up there too.

Favorites? Southern Gospel, The Perrys
Country, too many to tell, but George Jones, Oak Ridge Boys, Statler Brothers , Conway Twitty top the list
Oldies ...Ritchie Valens, The Kingston Trio, Herman's Hermits
Rock...Chicago

I am definitely more of an alternative rock fan. In my ipod right now I have bands/artists such as: Maroon5, Butch Walker, American Hi Fi, Linkin Park, Evanescence, Eve 6, SR-71, and Cake. When I'm looking for something a little more mellow I like to listen to Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw or Guster.

My boyfriend Brendan listens to REALLY heavy metal. I dunno where he got his taste in music. All the screaming and growling starts to get to me after awhile...

I guess I'm a oddball. I don't like music too much. I like to hear a song here and there, but that's it.

Well Jenn, (vespacat) I managed to pick a few, but I just couldn't resist picking "I don't like music" along with my other selections.

That's why I included that selection in the poll.
There are actually a LOT of people who aren't into music. I'm just obsessed.

Gee Ryan, why didn't I think to include a category just for you.
I'll be sure to do that next time around.

I forget to check off Alternative when I got to pick... doh!

Yeah, I like alternative too, but OLD alternative... I'm talking prior to 1992.
Though Evanescence and Cake are both quite good.

ROCK ON Brendan! (insert devil horn smiley here)

I'm mostly into classic rock & blues. Grateful Dead is obviously my favorite but I also love bands like: Allman Brothers, Led Zeppelin, Yardbirds, Bob Dylan, Johnny & Edgar Winter, Janis Joplin, Jeff Beck, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Yes, Pink Floyd, Moody Blues, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf...

... the list could go on forever! One of the best feelings in the world is driving with all the windows down and the radio as loud as it goes on a beautiful day. And by doing so, I can sing as loud as I want but I don't really have to hear myself.

haha My boyfriend is into heavy metal too. I like it but not nearly as much as he does. It's fun going to concerts like that.

Holy moly... sounds EXACTLY like what my parents listened to in the 70's.

lol Yeah.. it's mostly everything my dad listened too. My dad and my mom are 13 years apart so my mom listened to bands like ratt and poison.

I'm glad I grew up around my dad!

I have been to a few shows with him. His best friend is in a metal band and this past weekend I went to a show he was in. And my arm has been twisted to attend Ozzfest with him this summer.
I try really hard to like the heavy stuff, and I have learned not to hate it. But I don't think I'll ever make that genre a part of my CD collection.

Yeah I noticed you didn't check that and was wondering.
And no, you don't have to create any special categories for me... that's already been done! Yuk yuk!
(just kidding) Deb did that as a joke in the gender poll. I didn't ask for it.
Hmmm... then again I'm sure some of you would say I had it coming to me. By the way, you're missing some other categories such as punk, grind, or other kinds of metal.

I've been to way too many shows. lol I've gone to Ozzfest the past 3 years.. even if you don't like the music a whole lot.. it's still just a fun thing to go to. Although I do prefer shows at smaller places, like a club, than a huge place like where Ozzfest is held.

I have been to a couple music tours (Vans Warped Tour being one) and I really enjoyed it. So I am looking forward to Ozzfest this year. I keep telling Brendan he needs to make me a CD sampler of some of the bands though so I am not completely lost when I go.

Yeah... not to mention ska, oi, two-tone, mod revivial, industrial, goth, garage, shoegazer, triphop and the list goes on...
I'll keep them in mind for the next poll though.

I grew up listening to Areosmith, Ozzy and Guns-N-Roses. I still like them but now I listen to Pop, Alternative and Rock. I love up beat music as I clean the house. I also love Classical and Gospel. I know a huge variety. I just love music!!!
I would rather listen to music then watch TV.

You want upbeat?
I listen to the Ramones while I clean the house! Needless to say it gets done FAST.
