I've had many cats since I was little. We've never gotten them tested and I'm debating about this for Emma. She's going for her 2nd dystemper shot tomorrow and they are going to ask me. It's expensive and I honestly don't think it's worth it since she's an inside cat only and I plan on getting no other animals. If I were to get other animals, then I would definitely do it. Don't scream and holler at me. I'm just asking cause I'm not sure.

Any thoughts?:indiffere

When Sunshine went in for her 1 year visit in July they tested her without really even asking me. And the test was $49!! She was negative ( of course ), she is an indoor only cat, and I think it was unnecessary. I wouldn't do it, it was traumatizing to the cat too. She didn't like them taking blood and basically about freaked out.

i dont think its neccessary right now if she is the only cat in the house. i didnt get my first two tested but when i brought home a stray kitten i found i did get the new kitten tested and the last one that i recently got i also had tested but only because i already had healthy cats in the house. the test only cost me $25 but im sure it varies from vet to vet.

For an indoor cat who is the only cat, it's not a huge issue. I would however remember to test her if you ever decide to bring another cat into the house or she will be exposed to another cat.
