i dont leave spaz's food out in a bowl all day she informs me when she hungery my honestly bringing me her bowl's area or walking me to it and sitting in front of it. i try not to give massive amount (i give her more because i think she is pregnant but she is very healthy and a normaly skinny cat) but unless her bowl is filled to the brim she will not eat and once she eats passed she summons me intill so i will fill it up again and she will eat the top layer. i would like to understand why she does this so many i can get her a better bowl. i have looked at those cat bowls and they are too shallow she eats more then that.

how about getting a gravity feeder? there are semi-automatic feeders where food will drop down just by itself from a reservation tank behind the bowl, constantly filling up the dish? hope this helps

BTW if you think your cat is pregnant you should get her to the vet right away to be sure and if not, have her spayed right away. Do you let her outside? I would keep her in especially if she is not fixed yet.

To help with your question though...the back of the bag of food which you feed her should say the amount she is supposed to have each day. For most kinds, adults only get about 1/2 to 3/4 cup per day. I am not sure why she is behaving this way though. Maybe just experiment with different types of bowls. Try a really wide one that is shallow and see what she does.\\

PS-If she is pregnant you should be feeding her kitten food. If you don't want her to have babies, you can take her to the vet asap and have her spayed, it may cost a little more, but then she won't have the babies and you won't have to deal with a pregnancy and possible last minute vet visits if a problem occurs. Also you will have to get shots for all the kittens and make sure to find new homes and that all the kittens will be spayed or neutered too...it is just a lot of responsibility.
