I am just curious about something. I have a friend who has three cats and they have wounds all over thier necks, mostly on the undersides. First I noticed that the one male had a large patch of missing hair and wounds. I thought maybe he got caught on a rope or something and it would heal. It did mostly but now there are wounds again. The two females he has also have wounds on thier necks as well on one has some wounds on her face. The wounds never seem to heal because when they do there are new wounds shortly after that. He says they keep biting eachother when they breed. Has anyone heard of cats inflicting these kinds of wounds on eachother when they breed? These cats are pretty young and they have not had any kittens yet. I never see them fighting eachother either. It is very strange.

My guess is that the male with the large patch of missing hair and wounds tried to breed the female with wounds on her necks as well some wounds on her face - and from the sound of it, the female wasn't interested and gave the male the what-for *grin*

Does your friend allow these cats to interact freely or does he/she segregrate the male and females?

Is your friend a breeder?

If not, it really would be advisable to get all the cats spayed and neutered. There are enough homeless kittens and cats in this world.

Unsterilized cats usually beat the stuffing out of each other when competing for mating privileges. Besides preventing more unwanted kittens from being born, spaying and neutering protects cats from these serious injuries.

Yes I am aware of that but this person is not me and I have no control over what other people do so it's a moot point and not what I was asking.
