I have a question for all of you. Have you ever been the last one to post on a thread? I posted on a thread that seemed full speed ahead and since my post -- nothing. Why?

Katie, sometimes people just stop. That has happened to me as well.
Maybe they figure they cannot improve on what you said.

Yes, I have that experience, too. A little unsettling, but I think there's a kind of "natural life expectancy" for threads, as there is for most things, and the thing just dies when it's time, regardless of the fact that it has been going great guns up to that point. I'm learning -- slowly -- not to take it personally

Apologies for not posting questions -- I don't have an "interviewing" bone in my body -- but I do enjoy reading the questions and your answers!

Katie, being the mythical "thread killer" was one of the top irrational fears in this thread: Forum Fears It happens to all of us. Sometimes people just quit responding to a thread even if it seems to be going full steam ahead. Here's some questions for today:

1. When was the last time you had a crush on someone?

2. Do you have a relationship that you look back on as being your best, or do you try to forget them altogether?

3. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?

4. Have you ever run out of toilet paper in someone else’s bathroom?

5. Tell us your favorite joke.

6. What pearls of wisdom can you offer on dating in relation to what you’ve seen or experienced in your own life or the lives of others?

7. What is the most surprising gift you have ever received?

8. Out of the following severely limited answers, what is your favorite kind of ice cream? (You can pick more than one, but then you must list them in order of preference… or else!)

a)\tVanilla.
b)\tButter Pecan.
c)\tMaple Walnut.
d)\tPistachio.
e)\tTurtles® (the chocolate caramel delight!)
f)\tChocolate.
g)\tStrawberry.
h)\tRum ‘n Raisin.
i)\tBooger Pecan.
j)\tRocky Road.
k)\tBubblegum.
l)\tBubblebutt.
m)\tAll of the above.
n)\tMost of the above.
o)\tOther: Please specify in great detail and in order of preference.
p)\tI don’t do ice cream. Ice cream is evil! (If you pick this I know it is a lie! )

9. Which of the following utensils have you used to eat ice cream with?

a) Spoon
b) Fork
c) Serving spoon
d) Serving fork
e) Chopsticks
f) Knife
g) Fingers
h) Someone else's fingers
i) A shovel
j) A wooden spoon
k) A wooden serving spoon
l) Tongs
m) Scissors
n) Kitchen shears
o) Garden shears

10. What's the largest amount of ice cream you ever ate at one sitting?
(NOTE for other people: a quart is approximately 1 litre)

a) Less than a quart
b) Between 1 and 2 quarts
c) 2 quarts
d) 3 quarts
e) I'm too embarrassed to admit how much

1. When was the last time you had a crush on someone?

2001 - and he dumped me without notice. Just broke off all communication. It hurt.

2. Do you have a relationship that you look back on as being your best, or do you try to forget them altogether?

Each was different, but none resulted in a satisfactory relationship. I can't rank them as to quality.

3. What is your favorite non-alcoholic drink?

I just recently discovered Vanilla Diet Pepsi which I love, but its usually iced tea.

4. Have you ever run out of toilet paper in someone else’s bathroom?

No, but in commercial bathrooms its good to have some tissues in your purse.

5. Tell us your favorite joke.

why is 6 afraid of 7? Because 7-8-9.

6. What pearls of wisdom can you offer on dating in relation to what you’ve seen or experienced in your own life or the lives of others?

Oh, I wish so much I had pearls of wisdom for you. I've come to the conclusion that there ARE reasons some people are so much more successful, but I can't define them. It's partly the ability to accept someone as he/she is without a wish to change them. Partly an ability to accept that another person cares about you and reciprocating. There's a lot more but I can't get them all down into words. I'm happy to say I didn't pass my failure on to my daughter who is very good at forming relationships.

7. What is the most surprising gift you have ever received?

A gold diamond ring from my daughter when I told her that her father never gave me a wedding ring -- I bought my own! She gave it to me for the millenium.

8. Out of the following severely limited answers, what is your favorite kind of ice cream? (You can pick more than one, but then you must list them in order of preference… or else!)

b. butter pecan -- as usual your answers are so funny.

Thank you for all your great questions. Sorry I have no good advice for unrequited lovers.

Sometimes I just stay in and watch stupid tv shows. For awhile one local station had a lineup of Beast Master, Lost in Time, Mutant X, and Andromeda. I loved that! I also love to go to book stores and while away time reading parts of books and having coffee.

Yep, that's happened to me more than once!
Good answers Katie. I'll just add some more quick questions.

1. Who is more like you, Go Go or Graycie?

2. Describe what you think Go Go would be like as a human.

3. What would Graycie be like?

4. How do you take a compliment?

a) with a bashful smile then I change the subject
b) I smile and say thank you
c) I diffuse it by pointing out something else I don't like about myself
d) I respond by saying it's not true
e) I say, "Tell me more! Tell me more!"

5. What was the most flattering compliment you've ever received about your looks?

6. What's the craziest thing you've ever done for a spouse/boyfriend?

7. What's the craziest thing you've ever done for your kittes?
One more silly question from me.

If you won millions of dollars in the lottery what would be the first thing you'd buy?

do I have to name someone new tomorrow?

No special plans for the upcoming week.

It used to when I was working. But what really bothered me was the change in eating! I don't remember if was fall or spring, but one of them lunch would come an hour late for my stomach!

Thanks for checking in all week and helping me.

1. Who is more like you, Go Go or Graycie?

Graycie is my alter ego. I "talk" for her on the Paws and Reflect Forum threads where the cats talk to each other.

2. Describe what you think Go Go would be like as a human.

Dysfunctional. She's very shy -- it's hard to get her to come out from under the couch. She absolutely hides if anyone besides me is here.

3. What would Graycie be like?

Very ladylike. A sixties icon like Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn, or Jackie Kennedy.

4. How do you take a compliment?

a) with a bashful smile then I change the subject
b) I smile and say thank you
c) I diffuse it by pointing out something else I don't like about myself
d) I respond by saying it's not true
e) I say, "Tell me more! Tell me more!"

b. I forced myself to learn this -- I try to make the person feel good for saying it. I used to be a.

5. What was the most flattering compliment you've ever received about your looks?

Once when I was feeling really bad about my self, I was talking to a friend and my daughter and I said, "I'm fat, I'm short, my hair is ugly..." and they both stopped me yelling "Your hair's not ugly!" We all laughed and it was a turning point for how I felt about my hair.

6. What's the craziest thing you've ever done for a spouse/boyfriend?

Eliminating the s-things, I'm sure. I must be very uptight, because I can't think of anything!

7. What's the craziest thing you've ever done for your kittes?

I bring them leaves and pine cones and stuff like that because they don't get a chance to see that stuff outside.
You really made me think how boring I must be in relationships!

Two houses -- one for me, one for my daughter and her family.

No, no. Those are all great answers including the previous questions where you answered with some pearls of wisdom. Who has excitement in relationships at all times anyway?

YES!! Katie, you have to name a member to be in the spotlight for next week.

Katie,

I've been lurking, too! I love reading the responses. Seriously I was in a "special" class when I was about 7 years old because I needed "help" with my creative writing skills. The class didn't help. But I did think of one or two while I was writing this:

Do you like L.A.? Is it as superficial as it is reported to be by the media, etc?

Do you like to take photographs?

What are you having for dinner tonight?

I'm sure that if you're in the Hollywood scene it is just as bad as reported. The movie business is high-pressure and self-important. However, I live in a quiet neighborhood and it's much like everywhere else, except if anything, more laid-back compared to New York.

Do you like to take photographs?

Yes , I do. I took photography courses in college, but I have problems with the technical aspects. I take a lot of digital photos of my cats and post them on a photoblog: http://zuirin.buzznet.com/user. You have to join to see them.

What are you having for dinner tonight?

I don't know -- what would you suggest?
This is my last post answering questions. I've had a lot of fun -- even when I had to go to the library. Thank you Bobbie for this chance to enjoy the spotlight and feel so cared for.

Thank you Bobbie for all your help. It's been fun.

I choose carolcat and lil Jasper as the next Member in the Spotlight.

and to get things started:

1. Did you, or your family, have cats when you were a child?

2. If you could live anywhere in the world where would you choose?

3. Have you ever been to the Grand Canyon?

Dear Katie, thank you for choosing me and Jasper . Ok, now to answer your questions
1.
I remember having one cat when I was little, his name was Tiger and he used to "terrorize" on me when my mother would leave the room! He would back me into a corner, and if I tried to get out of it he would scratch me! But when my mother came back he would wander off like nothing was happening. He is the only cat I had growing up because my brother has asthma really bad and we couldn't have any indoor pets, and once my parents realized how allergic to cats my brother was, they would never let me have another one after he went to the bridge.
2.
If it were the United States, I would probably choose to live in the mountains of Santa Cruz, California. I have never been abroad, so I might choose somewhere in Europe but since I haven't ever been there I don't know if I would like it there better or not.
3.
I am sorry to say that I have never been to the Grand Canyon, we drove past it several times when I was a kid traveling from California to Indiana to visit family on school vacations, but my mother was always in too much of a hurry to stop and see it .

I just wanted to say thanks for putting up with me this week Katie. I enjoyed reading your answers to everyones questions and we learned some interesting things about you and your kitties. Now I'll have to think of some questions for carolcat.

Ryan -

It was fun reading and answering your questions. I'm not at all aware of what a Community Leader does, but I'm sure you deserve the post and congratulations. You are welcome to email or PM me if you want to continue the conversation.
