Nest weekend my new kitty will be arriving. She's a 3 1/2 year old retired chocolate point Siamese named Evie. She's supposed to be very loving and affectionate with humans, but she apparently doesn't accept cats of another breed, other than Siamese very well. The breeder I'm getting her from breeds both Siamese and Abyssinians, and she said that Evie doesn't get along with her Aby Queens, though she has no problem with the Siamese Queens. Evie has been spayed, so the breeder thinks that Evie just doesn't like non Siamese cats.

The reason she is letting me have her, is that she let Evie hang out with the neutered male Aby's and she didn't have a problem with them, and since both of my boys are neutered she feels that maybe things will work out ok with an adjustment period. So do I, or at least I'm hopeful.

The problem is, Simba is a Bengal, and he's a HYPER-ACTIVE Bengal, and Shane though a Siamese, is a traditional Applehead Siamese, which means maybe Evie won't recognise him as a Siamese. I want this transition to go over as smoothly as possible for all cats, because I will only have 2 full days to watch over them, before I have to go to work and leave them all alone in my apartment for 8 hours or so.

I've heard about Feliway, and I want to get some. Can you get it at Petco? Also, what else can I get? I've read here about putting Vanilla on their tails, right? I am going to try to seperate them for a few days, unless she howls being locked up, or unless Simba has a complete fit, since he CAN'T STAND IT WHEN A DOOR IS CLOSED TO HIM, if you know what I mean. Could I get some help on what I need to get to prepare for Evie's arrival. I want so much for it to work

Yes you can get Feliway at Petco, tho if you have any local feed stores you might try there first as it could be cheaper. When I used the vanilla trick on my two I wound up covered in it so I would put it on the base of their tails (on their back, not underside) and then around their head.

As for Simba not liking doors closed to him - is it possible for you to start closing the door where Evie will be staying? That way he can start getting used to that door being closed?

By the way, I'm no expert (especially since Evie sounds finicky and my Max is pretty chill) but if you ever need any more help let me know!

Excellent I would do that too! We had to get ready for Saba and I truly didn't assume Sasha would be his laid-back self. Also, place sweaters or sleep shirts with your scent on them in that room for her.
How wonderful, Hope!
