I bought a whole bunch of potted flowering plants today for SUCH an amazing deal!
Tulips, mums, and lots of pink and white carnations are now throughout my apartment! Thanks to the Easter sales, it's really lifted my mood and I'm a happy girl today!

Oh how lovely! I've been wanting to get some plants in my place, maybe I should go to Lowes and see if I can't find some deals myself! Thanks for the idea!!

Absolutely!

Sometimes I get in such a depressive funk through the winter months, that when a day comes like today... with sun all day long, pretty flowers and plants blooming everywhere, birds chirping, and weather that encourages me to get outside and ride my Vespa (scooter) I am absolutely thrilled!

The flowers sound lovely!

Jenn, what type of successes have you had with apartment plants? Any that you recommend more than others? I'm looking to get my apartment a-bloomin' too!!!

Amy, I have a difficult time because I don't get as much light as I would like, so I tend to go with heartier plants. Spider plants are good. Mums keep for a long time, as far as flowering plants go.

Of course, the meowy monsters get the best spot in the house, with the cat tree and donut bed in front of the window that brings in the most sun!
So, I have a hard time keeping plants there, and I look for cat-friendly plants because they tend to chew them to death.

I love getting in the dirt and planting stuff! Usually I plant stuff on Easter Sunday but it is supposed to be terribly rainy tomorrow, and I am thinking I better wait.

I have the same problem as you- kitties hogging the sunny window spots (even though I wouldn't have it any other way). I have a screened-in porch, though, so I think I'll put some plants out there...
Thanks for the advice Jenn!!!!

You're smart for that chick- they're expecting hail tonight and my mom just called and said there is a possibility for tornados

Anytime, Amy!
Though it sounds like you're got an edge on me as an apartment dweller... I would die for a screened in porch.
The housing market in Toronto isn't unlike NYC's, so you can probably imagine how small (but expensive) my place is!

It sounds heavenly! I was ecstatic about a month ago when the seeds all came out in front of the store on the little carousels.... I went a little bonkers!
Take a photo Jenn and post!
These are camelias off our tree today. The first sign, they bloom right on the first day of Spring:

E, those are lovely! Someday I hope to have my own yard so I can do my own gardeing as well.

No digital camera yet, though being a member of TCS may be enough justification to finally take the plunge.

What I like best about Spring is the re-birth of the earth... all the green shoots appearing in the ground, the buds on the ugly Forsythia out front of my house, and I was brought a handful of Daffodils the other day! I like to see everything "coming alive" again. I miss being outside.

The birds singing in the trees, visiting my bird feeders... that is another thing about Spring & Summer. We have a ton of cardinals that hang out in the back trees during winter but I like it when we get so many visitors in the front of the house, to entertain my cats. Just yesterday Snickers whacked his head on the windowsill because he was more interested in the birds on the feeder than he was judging distance when he jumped!
