Hi,
I posted my first response to a question last night and have already recieved three PM's! Sounds like a VERY friendly place. I'll give you a brief bio - I am a pediatric oncologist located in the Maritime provinces of Canada. (But I studied at Harvard so if there are any New Englanders out there, I have been ecstatic ever since the Red Sox won beat that drated curse, lol)
I have had cats all my life - and raised orphan kittens. I currently share my life with a six month old adorable sweetheart Seal Point Siamese kitten named Qwan Yin (Yin Yin for short). A Bhuddist friend informed me that Quan Yin is the Bhuddist Goddess of Mercy and Compassion. And since Siamese started out in Thailand where Bhuddism is a major religion, I opted to name her that. I had been searching for a pet but Yin Yin is a show quality kitty. I doubt I'll make the show circuit as intriging as that sounds.
In my spare time, I serve on a variety of non profit boards. Recently, I served with Les Medcins Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) in Sumatra - Indonesia - after the Tsunami. It certainly makes me appreciate what we in the west take for granted.
I also tend to make a lot of typos. I was furious in high school when I wanted to take all the sciences and the so called guidence counsellor suggested I might want to look at typing, it being a good course "for a girl." I stuck to the sciences but my keyboarding is less than stellar.
