Now, I'll cross my fingers that I get the booking I want that day.
I'll keep mine crossed, too!
A small, intimate wedding sounds good.

Congrats on your impending nuptuals!!!! PLEASE ELOPE! If I could do it all over again I would. Hope your soon-to-be-spouse agrees. Your families will be happy as long as you are. I am wishing you a lifetime of luck, happiness and love in your new union!

Under the cats, mostly.
Hrmn... Matt, that's a tough call - but as you said, it's YOUR day. I'd do it, THEN tell. If you tell beforehand, people are going to try to talk you out of it. Upsetting a few people is going to be inevitable whichever way you do it, but people get over it. A wedding is really only a ceremony for everyone else to see (even though it is nice to share, I'm sure) but you've got it right in recognising that it's a special day for the two of you as a couple, nobody else. Just think of all the money you'll save! You can put that into an even more impressive honeymoon

Hi Matt,

My husband and I had a very small, intimate wedding and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. My Dad and 3 of our friends were there along with the Judge who married us. It is your day and you want it to be a day you can remember with joy and satisfaction, not frustration or exhaustion:-). My cousin and her husband eloped and just sent out lovely announcements with a photograph afterwards to everyone, although her fiancee did send a photograph of a ladder to her father on the day they got married, which everyone thought was a lot of fun and very cute. The important thing is to do what is right for you:-).

I wish you and your fiance a wonderful wedding and an even more wonderful marriage.
Best Wishes,
Kathryn

really, a gay wedding looks no different than a straight one. same setup, same meaning, just different people.

Matt, I could not be any happier for you and your partner
I do not want to give any advice having never been married/engaged myself (yet
). Just enjoy YOUR day and the beginning of your life together
Please share photos/wedding stories with us. I'm already starting to mist up just thinking about it!

CONGRATULATIONS AND ALL THE BEST!

Congratulations! My family has actually encouraged us to get eloped, but my fiancee's family is opposed to the idea. We've already bought my dress and my mom just jokes that I could wear it around the house to get some use out of it. It's tempting. Have you thought about eloping and later having some sort of party for your family and friends?

Matt, I totally do not blame you for eloping. My husband and I got married on the island of Kauai, Hawaii (just like E). It was only the 2 of us and we didn't have to worry about giving friends and both sides of the family the same amount of attention, etc. We had a reception when we got back home (so we could still get pressies). Just remember, it IS YOUR day and if eloping is what your heart tells you to do, you'd better listen!
