I have a 6 month old kitten that I had spayed one week ago.
Yesterday we noticed that a lump has developed around the area
where her stitches are located. The lump is a little firm.

She does not seem to be in any pain at all, nor is she paying
much attention to it.

Any idea what this could be? I don't recall this happening when
we had the mother cat spayed a few weeks ago.

Lumps are common around spay sites and is usually the body reacting to the foreign agents (the stitches) If the lumps or lump gets bigger than a golf ball, then worry. Otherwise, it should be fine. Prowler just got spayed and she has 4 lumps at the moment- they do go away in time.

When i had Rosie spayed she never either, but when Sophie was done she had a little lump on her incision.

The way i could describe it was that it felt like a nodule?!. And with the advice i got here i was told this can be normal and would probably go away which it did.

Make sure where it is it doesn't feel hot as well.

Just make sure is not hot and that there is no fluid coming out of it. This happened to my cat and it was that they used the wrong thread for the stitches and it got infected. End result they had to open again, clean the area and saw her back.
It was not my vet's fault, it happened at an emergency clinic that I had to take her during the weekend because she undid a couple of her stitches.
If I don't run with her to my regular vet, God only know what could have happened.
My poor Kirim was opened and saw back three times.

Thanks for all of the replys. The lump is not hot and it is dry.
It doesn't seem to be bothering her at all.

I freaked out when I found a lump on Chloe post-spaying. The vet assured me it would go down and she was right...Chloe's is almost gone, but it has taken awhile.
