For those of you who celebrate this holiday, what special traditions do you have, or remember from your childhood?
I remember my Grandmother Anna making each grandchild a Puppa Cu Ova - a dough basket made in the shape of a basket with a handle, and on the side of the basket, two hardboiled eggs, each held by two criss-crosses of dough as if they were "inside" the basket. Decorated with a bit of icing, these were so charming. I've bombed miserably when trying to make them (have her recipe), so haven't had one in years.
I also grew up enjoying Casata - an Italian Easter Cheesecake made with ricotta cheese, fresh fruit zest, and candied fruits, unsweetened chocolate..it's wonderful but a cholesterol nightmare! It's made with a dozen eggs!
I make one every year, though dh takes most of it in to share at work the day after
