Uhhh, I dont have any songs that make my cry. The one that gets me the cloest will have to be "Oh Very Young" by Cat Stevens, It makes me think about death and how sad it makes other when you die.

Also, the second movement from Bach's second violin concerto.

That makes me cry, too. My daddy died when it was popular.

Seasons In The Sun

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We´ve known each other since we
Were nine or ten
Together we´ve climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and abc´s
Skinned our hearts and
Skinned our knees

Goodbye my friend it´s hard to die
When all the birds are singing
In the sky
Now that spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and i´ll be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
just seasons out of time

goodbye papa please pray for me
i was the black sheep of the family
you tried to teach me right from wrong
too much wine and too much song
wonder how i got along

goodbye papa it´s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky
now that the spring is in the air
little children everywhere
when you see them i´ll be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the songs like the
seasons have all gone
we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like
the seasons have all gone

goodbye michelle my little one
you gave me love and helped
me find the sun
and every time that i was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on
the ground

goodbye michelle it´s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in
the sky
now that the spring is in the air
with the flowers everywhere
i wish that we could both be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
just seasons out of time

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone

All The Things I Wasn't by The Grapes of Wrath (Canadian folk trio), was my dad's favourite song at the time of his death. Whenever I hear it, I start sobbing. Needless to say I don't have it in my collection any more.

My parents were really into 60's folk and rock when I was a kid, so songs by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, Simon & Garfunkel, Joni Mitchell and Cat Stevens all bring back pretty watery memories of the better parts of my childhood.

Music experienced on my own... Many songs by U2 stir up a whole lot of emotion. Especially The Joshua Tree album. Oh, and maybe some of the Goth stuff I listened to in my teens... But then anyone would want to slash their wrists after listening to it.

There is a new song out called "How do you get that Lonely?"

Another one is Tim McGraw, "Dont' take the Girl"
Blaine Larson sings "How do you get that lonely"

All of these posts are sending me straight to Napster...I haven't heard many of them in a while. I would have to say...

Bridge over troubled water - Simon & Garfunkel
All The Way - Frank Sinatra
&
At Last - Etta James

Sarah Brightman's version of "Time to say Goodbye" - brings this crusty ol' lady to tears each time I hear it.

I thought of another that brings tears everytime.

I cannot think of the actual name but it is by the Dixie Chicks and it is about a womans husband leaving her for another woman.
Part of it goes, "I can give you 2 good reasons to show you loves not blind, he's 2 and she's 4 and you know they adore you. So how can I tell them that you've changed your mind?"

Here I go again.....

Under the cats, mostly.
Cool
I'm not sure I can name all the songs that make me cry because there are so many of them. I think there's a lot to be said for the power of music. Aerosmith - "Don't wanna miss a thing" really does it for me... but it's the only one I can think of off the top of my head. There are a good few Westlife soppy ballads that do it too (but mostly it's when my boyfriend is singing them!). I think it's more the underlying beat/rhythm that knocks me sideways. OH yeah... Ronan Keating - ""If tomorrow never comes"... that's a killer - I'm usually bawling by the end of the first line!!

That's one of my fav's.. I've sung it many times on my karaoke machine here at home.

Any sad country song gets me.. hehe- I'm a huge country fan and an emotional sap 99% of the time.

Another one is Willie Nelson's "Always on My Mind"...

It's kind of scary, but my mind must be going. Kirk Franklin has one that makes me cry. Couldn't tell you what it is. Did remember one by LeAnn Rimes that makes me cry everytime.

Ten Thousand Angels Cried

Stillness filled the Heavens, on crucifixion day.
Some say it rained, I don't know if it's true.
Well, I can just imagine ten thousand angels cried
That would seem like rain to me and you.

The angels all stood ready to take Him from the tree
They waited for the words from His voice.
And when He asked the Father why has thou forsaken me
They watched the Saviour die of His own choice.

I've never seen ten thousand angels cry
But I'm sure they did
As they stood by
And watched the Savior die.

God turned His head away
He couldn't bear the sight
It must have looked like rain
When ten thousand angels cried.

As the sun slipped away
The skies turned to grey
And when Jesus gave his all
That's when the tears began to fall.

And there's a couple of the Highwaymen that get me too

Jim, Jim, you wore a tie today, the first tie you ever wore.........................

Oh I love this thread! I'm a big sap too - I don't usually start bawling outright
but I do get very affected by music. The lyrics are always so important to me too. I've always liked the siggy "the problem with life is there's no background music"

Here's some faves:
When I see you smile - Bic Runga
Evening Falls - Enya
Empty - The Cranberries
I fought in a war - Belle & Sebastian

and I always get sappy at the "Seasons in the Sun" song!

My beloved kitty Bartholomew's nickname was Mew.
I used to sing this song to him all the time.
Those were really happy times.
He went to the RB in 2000.

You (Mew) are My Sunshine.

Mew are my sunshine,
my only sunshine,
Mew make me happy,
when skies are grey...
Mew'll never know dear,
how much I love you....
please don't take,
my sunshine away.

The other night dear,
when I lay sleeping,
I dreamed I held you in my arms...
when I awoke dear,
I was mistaken,
and I hung my head
and I cried....

Mew are my sunshine...
(repeat first verse)

I love you my sweet Mew.

Lei
