I don't really cry to music much, but I definately get sad and wistful at:

In My Life
Donna by Richie Vallens <sp?> always gets me (Peggie Sue doesn't though
)

I like songs that make me happy more.

I don't know the name of the guy that sings it, but it's about a kid that commits suicide.

Another one is Tim McGraw, "Dont' take the Girl"
Glad I'm not the only one that cries at Don't Take the Girl. I bought the CD when that song first came out and was listening to the song and crying and my Mom kinda looked at me funny. Other than that one though I haven't cried over any song.

Don't take the girl gets me too. I know better than to listen to it in public. I know there are more songs that make me cry but I just can't think of them right now.

Female Middle-Eastern singers.

Like the songs at the end of the movie Gladiator.

There was also a song featured on West Wing, at the end of the second episode of Zoe's kidnapping. It was on tonight, and it was just so haunting that both my mother and me were weeping.

I may not be able to understand it, but I think it portrays more emotion than anything I've ever heard.

Edit: Finally did a search for the song on West Wing. Both that one and the ones from Gladiator are sung by Lisa Gerrard. Small world.

Schubert's Ave Maria. It makes me feel sad and alone and loved and comforted all at the same time. One of the first couple days here in Italy, I sat down to listen to a street performer singing, and she started into Ave Maria and I lost it right there in public.

The National Anthem always chokes me up. Amazing Grace seems to affect me too. Sometimes songs are situational when they hit me emotionally like when I broke up with my fiance of five years I would drive around listening to Garth Brooks The Dance and when the lyric "Our lives are better left to chance I would have missed the pain but I'd have to miss the dance" seemed to fit so well I would bawl each time. Also the Christmas song A Little Drummer Boy will choke me up.

this one always makes me think of Dad i always cry when i hear this

if you came back from heaven

I wouldn't know what to say
I wouldn't know what to do
If you came back from Heaven
And I could look at you
Would I fumble for the words
Would I be a little shy
Would I bust right out with laughter
Or break right down and cry
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
Would it be like it was then
Could we just pick up where we left off
And try it all again
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
It would freeze me in my tracks
And I hope God knows, if He let you go
I'd never send you back
Do your kisses feel the same
Do you still have the same touch
And will you whisper softly
'Cause you've missed me so much
Have you heard all my prayers
When I laid down at night
And did you feel my body
When I held your pillow tight
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
Would it be like it was then
Could we just pick up where we left off
And try it all again
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
It would freeze me in my tracks
And I hope God knows, if He let you go
I'd never send you back
And if, God forbid,
You leave this earth
Again while I sleep
I hope He knows, if you go
You'll be bringing me
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
Would it be like it was then
Could we just pick up where we left off
And try it all again
Oh, if you came back from Heaven
It would freeze me in my tracks
And I hope God knows, if He let you go
I'd never send you back
I hope God knows, if He let you go
I'd never send you back

and this was me and my Dads favorite song back in the good ole days when we did alot of fishing and diving in the keys

Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call
Wanted to sail upon your waters since I was three feet tall
You've seen it all, you've seen it all

Watched the men who rode you switch from sails to steam
And in your belly you hold the treasures few have ever seen
Most of 'em dream, most of 'em dream

Yes I am a pirate, two hundred years too late
The cannons don't thunder, there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over-forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late

I've done a bit of smugglin', I've run my share of grass
I made enough money to buy Miami, but I pissed it away so fast
Never meant to last, never meant to last

And I have been drunk now for over two weeks
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks
But I got stop wishin', got to go fishin'
Down to rock bottom again
Just a few friends, just a few friends

(instrumental)

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
Though I ran 'em away, they'd come back one day
Still could manage to smile
Just takes a while, just takes a while

Mother, mother ocean, after all the years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupation's just not around
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown

Coda:
I feel like I've drowned, gonna head uptown

I Will Always Love You (preferably Vince Gill and Dolly Parton)

Don't Take the Girl does it for me too

All good patriotic songs
"Taps" does it too

But lately, the one that gets me the most is one that my friends sing, that another one of my friends wrote for them, in memory of a grandmother, and a father......my friend also sang it at my MIL's funeral

"I Will Find You Again" words and music by Wayne Haun, recorded by The Perrys

1. I was there when you crossed over, to the dying part of living,
I held your hand and slowly watched you go.
Oh I know you're some place better than what I can imagine,
But I can't help the way I miss you so.

2. I would never be so selfish, as to pray you back from heaven,
So I could have you longer here with me,
So I cherish every memory, 'cause it helps me to remember,
That where you are is where I'm going to be.
Chorus:
If I have to knock on every mansion door
Walk miles of golden streets,
Search among a million saints that rest at Jesus' feet,
I will run along the jasper walls, call your name upon the wind,
I will find you again.
CODA:
Save a seat for me at the table beside you,
And tell everyone that I am on my way,
(repeat chorus)

Dishwalla is a great group. At least, I am pretty impressed with their music. Opaline is the best album to try if you have never heard any of their music.

Must agree on Butterfly Kisses.
And I'm trying to remember why Green Green Grass of Home made me teary!

Samuel Barber's Adagio for Strings (used in Platoon)

And a few hymns = In the Sweet, Bye and bye, we shall meet on that beautiful shore...

Will a keyboard short out from tears?

"Seasons in the Sun", by Terry Jacks, because it was a hit when I lost a childhood friend. http://users.cis.net/sammy/seasons.htm . Westlife later covered it.

Westlife
Seasons In The Sun

Goodbye to you my trusted friend
We´ve known each other since we
Were nine or ten
Together we´ve climbed hills and trees
Learned of love and abc´s
Skinned our hearts and
Skinned our knees

Goodbye my friend it´s hard to die
When all the birds are singing
In the sky
Now that spring is in the air
Pretty girls are everywhere
Think of me and i´ll be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
just seasons out of time

goodbye papa please pray for me
i was the black sheep of the family
you tried to teach me right from wrong
too much wine and too much song
wonder how i got along

goodbye papa it´s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in the sky
now that the spring is in the air
little children everywhere
when you see them i´ll be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the songs like the
seasons have all gone
we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like
the seasons have all gone

goodbye michelle my little one
you gave me love and helped
me find the sun
and every time that i was down
you would always come around
and get my feet back on
the ground

goodbye michelle it´s hard to die
when all the birds are singing in
the sky
now that the spring is in the air
with the flowers everywhere
i wish that we could both be there

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the hills that we climbed were
just seasons out of time

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone

we had joy we had fun we had
seasons in the sun
but the wine and the song like the
seasons have all gone
