Ok...I am still a little embarrassed by this...but I figured that if I could laugh about it, maybe someone else could also:

Yesterday was a pretty rough day for me...I hadnt gotten much sleep the night before, and I was really dragging. All I wanted was to go home, get in my pajamas and curl up in front of the tv and relax......oh, no, not me.
I decided to take a bubble bath when I got home. Apparently, that was my first mistake
I forgot to grab the cordless, and I had the music so loud in the bathroom, I never heard it ring. This sends my husband into a panicked frenzy(he has class until 10:00pm on Wednesday nights), because he knew I wasnt feeling well. He calls my sister, and gets her all worried. She calls me, I am out of the bath, and I talk to her, and I call and calm my husband down.

Well, Smudge must have gotten a hold of some pretty bad catnip or something because she was HYPER. I mean H-Y-P-E-R. She starts fighting Samantha playfully. Samantha is old. She doesnt want to play, so they start fighting. Little Miss hears it, and jumps in the middle of it, and all of the sudden, my living room is nothing but a typhoon of fur.
My siberian husky, Bjourne, had been in there eating a bone, and they ran him over like an out of control buzzsaw!!! He jumped up and barked...and I guess somewhere, between the jump and the bark, they turned and started fighting with him. I was in my bedroom in the back...and when I finally realized what was going on, it only took a nanosecond for that to transpire, Bjourne was their target.
So, I run down the hallway, and get to the kitchen and WHAM!!!!!!! I slipped in water that had gotten spilled. I hit my right knee hard, then my hip, cut my hand, and whacked my face on the kitchen chair. I broke my hips once, I really wasnt trying to do it again. So, now I am crying
I guess the sound of my body banging along the kitchen floor must have been what they needed to knock it off, because every last one of them, even my fish, were looking at me wide eyed. Bjourne came over and laid down beside me. It really hurt...and I am not wimp, or anything, and I have a pretty high tolerance for pain after I already fractured my hips on both sides, but that really did hurt.

In the meantime, my husband comes in, and sees the living room in total disaray, and I am in the kitchen sniffling
He comes and helps me up, and we survey the damage. My knee is a lovely array of colors...from light pink, to red, to blue to deep purple. My face didnt bruise, but my hip did, and the cut on my hand wasnt that bad. So, I just wanted to get up and disappear....
But my husband kept chuckling about it. I didnt think it was funny.

I feel like I have been in a fight...and lost.

Has anyone else been injured because of their pets??? Maybe it will make me feel a little bit better.
I hope you at least got a chuckle. For once..I wasnt just being clumsy.

Oh Diane!
That is a wild story! Your critters! Are you feeling any better today? Take it easy. Normally I'd recomment taking a nice, relaxing bath...but we see where that can lead you to!

Our furbabies will probably be the death of us all, but aren't we all better off with them without them?

I'm so sorry to hear about your day Diane!!

Since you asked: my husband was walking our dog Spike when he was a small puppy (about 3 months old). He was running across the yard with him (on a leash) and Spike first zigged then zagged in front of him. The zip caused Steve to stumble and the zag caused him to fall on top of him.

I'm in the house and hear Spike *SCREAMING* outside (thru the closed windows). I run out to find Spike under the patio table with blood everywhere and Steve laying on the lawn trying to crawl towards Spike to help him. Steve twisted his ankle hard enough that he was limping for weeks. Poor Spike had what turned out to be a broken nose which healed over a few months time. I think they tried to kill each other that night (can you say emergency trip to the vets?).

Knock on wood, but I've only fallen once from the cats being underfoot, and it wasn't a hard fall.

Thankfully, everyone survived that fall, huh??? My cats get under foot, but I have never fallen before...until last night.....I am glad to hear your dogs nose healed!!

My cats haven't caused any injuries, yet--but I fall over my own two feet (or bang my hands in doorways, or knock my elbows into walls...) fairly often. I have, however, had a pet-caused incident.

When I was a kid, I was walking my dog one day after it had been raining for a while. Our backyard was quite sloped, and, I found out, had turned into a mudslide. Tasha usually walked pretty well on her leash, but for some reason that day she just took off. I had no traction in the mud, and ended up flat on my face, sliding down the hill behind a madly barking poodle. I wasn't hurt, really, but I did end up covered in mud...I still laugh about it to this day.

I have had lots of trips but two bad falls caused by the felines. First, our cat Rigel (RB- she was a character!) was in a mood and peed in the kitchen. My right foot slid straight out to the right and I went into splits - which I had never done before!! I imagined the worst but managed to crawl up onto a kitchen chair.

Fast forward 10 years to me stepping out the kitchen door with my left foot first. At the last moment, Opal (RB) got in the way. I tried to step over her to the next step, but there was water on the porch and my left leg slid straight out - like doing the splits. (There's a theme here...) I sat on the porch and cried - not only did it hurt, but Mom couldn't hear me or help anyway because she had fallen the previous week and could barely walk! I cussed and cried then started thanking the creator that I had fallen in the shady part of the porch (it was July). After a half hour or so I managed to "butt walk" over to the bench and get up. Because of the latter fall, I now carry a cane whenever I leave the house and I can tell when the next weather front is heading our way...

So glad you are not seriously hurt but I must say it's easy to laugh in hindsight.

We had a black cat once that loved to lay on the navy carpet in the hallway between the kitchen and the family room. At night with most of the lights off you couldn't see him. My poor dear old mom (God rest her soul) tripped over him several times and as she was prone to talking to herself she would say, "Ebony, one of these days you're going to trip me and down I'll go". (She was in her 70's at this time) Sure enough, one night she trots off to the kitchen to get a snack (bless her she was always eating and weight 90 lbs.) and trips over Ebony and down she went and ended up on her hands and knees. Thankfully she didn't hurt herself but the two of us laughed ourselves silly.

Man that sounds like a nasty bruise!!!

Hammie tripped me (or rather: caused me *to* trip, it wasn't *his* fault) on the stairs a few weeks ago. Granted, I was running, but so was he; and I should always remember that the stairs are his personal race-way.

I'd just polished my wood floors at the bottom of the steps. I was almost down... so was Hammie... so, he cuts me off, diagonal zig-zag thingy across the front of my path... and BOOM, down I go on my butt, then to make matters worse, when I hit the wood floor, since it was so slick from me cleaning it? I slid even more and went to the wall.

It only hurt for a few days, just one of those butt-bruises. Thankfully I carry junk in the trunk so my butt didn't hurt as bad as your knee.

believe you me, those little nasties knew it hurt. If you could have seen their faces, Smudges especially...her eyes were the size of jupiter
she knew I got hurt...samantha and little miss abandoned her...she was like "thanks guys, thanks..." I cussed them. I cussed myself...I cussed linoleum floor tiles...I think I might have cussed the dog for just sitting with me...I feel like bed is a good place..I am sooo sore. They are in a timeout. On restriction...in the naughty corner...whatever you call it. They are so punished.

Everyone's stories gave me a good chuckle

I never tripped over Marsh, but i did stub my little pinkie toe on my right foot about 3 weeks ago. I was walking from the bathroom to the bedroom, misjudged the door frame and walked with my foot right into it -- the pain was excrusiating! my heart went into my throat and i couldn't speak. the toe was covered in blood and i split the nail, which i had to cut off down to the 'meaty' part of the toe, after which wearing sneakers hurt like hell for about a week, until the nail grew a little and the area healed.

of course, i didn't learn anything and i still walk around the house like i'm late for a very imprtant meeting LOL
