I'm not sure that Bif is CJ and Billy's daddy. He's the only tomcat that hangs out around here, and they have so many characteristics of him, so, that's what I think... not positive at all, though... just an educated guess. I'll let you know as soon as they are born.Originally Posted by Leli
Congrats on your upcoming litter! Just wanted to tell you that I don't think you've got the right daddy for CJ. White cats are a dominant condition (the white gene will override any colour), so one of CJ's parents had to be white (unless there was other, more complicated molecular biology going on, which I won't get into). How sure are you that he was the smokey grey cat? If you're sure, CJ is VERY rare. I'm sure she's already super special, either way, though. Anyway, as far as colours you can expect in the litter, there's not really much of a way to know, since you can't know what CJ's real colour would have been without the white gene. I can tell you that, if you get any boys that are orange or girls that are FULL orange (not calico or topaz, then it could have come from Billy), CJ has the orange gene and would have either been like her mum or possibly full orange if her dad also had it. Your orange male, Billy, can only pass orange on to girls, cuz it's a sex-liked trait. I've been kind of into this stuff lately. I spent yesterday trying to figure out what the chances are that Sammy and Lola have the same dad. I wonder if you'll get any tabbys in the new litter....let us know! Looking forward to news of healthy mum and babies and beautiful pictures!
P.S. Be careful with the kittens as far as the imbreeding situation goes. I'm sure you've learned your lesson after Billy and CJ (those tricky guys, getting by you lol), but just a warning - if you have 2 white kittens of opposite sexes, make sure they don't breed, because breeding 2 white cats is often associated with congenital deafness.
It's possible that Bif is Billy's dad, but he's probably not CJ's (which makes the inbreeding possibly a little farther apart lol). You're right about the deafness and blue eyes (from what I've read). Good luck talking your parents into keeping a kitten. Maybe when they see those cute little faces they won't be able to resist!Originally Posted by CJandBilly

I have heard about the deafness. Normally white cats with blue eyes develop it, right? We are not going to keep the kittens... (maybe I could talk my parents into one... SHHHHH) But, this is definitely the first, and last litter!
CJ had one white male, one orange tabby female, and one orange tabby male. So, what does this mean? Does this mean that she IS extremely rare? Or not? Not that it matters to me... because CJ is only CJ, and is rare, precious, and prized in my eyes!Originally Posted by Leli

Since you have a red female in your litter, you know that CJ carries the red gene. FULL red females are statistically-challenged because BOTH parents need to carry the red gene, ie: the father, red and the mother has to be at least tortie. Dilution and pieblad factors (not considered).Originally Posted by CJandBilly
