This client made me feel so good!

We have had a bunch of Marines coming back from Iraq this week, so it has been pretty happy here in J-ville.
I had a young guy come in for a massage yesterday that told me he had been sleeping on the ground for a year. I put on a guitar instrumental mix and worked really hard to give him the best massage I could possibly give him. When he got up he was so relaxed I had to help him down the stairs. He said he was going to find the biggest steak in town, go to his hotel room and sleep for 2-3 days, and he would see me for another massage next week. Then he gave me a $20 tip. 3 of his buddies are coming in today. I love working on these guys. We are all so happy to see so many come back safe and sound. They are starting to bring more back than they are sending over.

I can imagine how that Marine feels. I remember sleep was a big priority when my nephew (a Marine reservist) got home from Desert Storm. In fact, a neighbor's rooster almost became fried chicken for waking him up the morning after! (Apparently he threw on his boots and chased the thing in his sleeping shorts. What a video that would have made!)

When my (ex-)husband came back from Afghanistan for medical reasons, he flew commercial from Germany back to the states, but since he didn't have any civilian clothes he was still in uniform. While boarding the plane, the flight attendant said, "Welcome home" and he said "Thank you." She looked him square in the eye and said, "No, thank YOU!" He said right then he felt the fatigue lift off his shoulders, and she took great care of him for the entire flight. Just doing her job, but doing it to honor his hardships,
