All this time I've been coating door jams and wires in bitter apple, only to learn that Montana loves the taste of bitter apple. Only 5 minutes ago did I re-apply it to a couple door jams after she removed the rubber stoppers and she's licking and chewing on the one by the front door.

For the most part, they leave the cords alone, heck, Montana will curl up in a ball and sleep behind my subwoofer ontop of the stereo cords. But it's the door jams that concern me. She pulls the rubber stoppers off the ends. I could remove all the rubber stoppers for the time being, seeing as I don't slam doors and such. But I only view that as a temporary solution.

Anyone have any other hints or tricks of the trade?

A little off topic, but I had a hampster years ago who tried chewing it's plastic cage to shreds. Everything I read said mix cayenne pepper with water and wipe it on what you didn't want them to lick.... of course, turned out mine had quite the thing for cayenne pepper, and did even more damage....

They do make other deterants out there, if the peper mixture doesn't work. I was debating on what to get, but decided on Bitter Apple because it smelled the worst. It seems to be working.

When I adopted my puppies last year, I bought some bitter apple because they took a liking to my kitchen chair legs. The man at the store warned me that some animals like the taste of bitter apple, and the way to get them to hate it from the start was to spray a tiny bit directly into their mouths before you use it on anything.

I cringed at the thought of doing that, but did it anyway. They were so taken aback by the experience that all I had to do was pick up the bottle and point it in their general direction and they'd run off. It worked really well on furniture after that.

Not sure if it is too late for you to try this trick, and if you do, really only spray a tiny, tiny bit.

i meant pepper pepper but cayenne pepper would work even better.

what about those nail varnishes designed to stop people biting their nails? could you just paint some of that on? (maybe not on large surfaces!)
