Do I need to separate the two after Milo's neuter?

Hi, I'm new here and I had a quick question. My little Milo (5 month old gray & white cutie) is getting neutered tomorrow and I wanted to know if I should keep him separated from Pixie (2 yr old, tabby-tude) for a couple days. I want to make sure he recovers well and I'm not sure what to do. Thanks!!!

I separated CJ from Billy when Billy was neuterd, just until his pain meds were finished. It wouldn't hurt to do so, just to make sure it all heals, especially is Pixie is an unaltered female.
I made a mistake of letting Billy see her for a few minutes (supervised) when he got home and "sobered" up off the drugs a bit, and he tried to... urm... well...... he tried to do someting nasty. I turned my head, and turned back to look at them and was like, " OHAHHHHHH!!!!" So, it might be a good idea to do so for a little while. You should ask your vet when you bring him in just to be sure how long, too.

I've always kept my "just neutered" cats away from the others for a day or two just to help keep them relaxed.

I've never had to separate anyone after a neuter, it is such a quick surgery that it takes longer to prep for the sugery than the actual surgery. Go with what your vet says when you take him in in the morning

The vet will tell you. My Lewis was neutered in Jan. and I tried very hard to keep him separated but it was hard. The told me to keep him calm
That was total joke as even though we separated the cats, keeping Lewis in our room, he was bouncing all over the place all night, playing with anything he could find. He recovered quite nicely though
What I did was keep him in the room by himself off and on and let him out with the other cats and just kept an eye on him for couple of days and if they got too rough in their play I would give him a room break.

don't necessarily need to keep him separated - they pretty much know what their limits are. My lil girl Mika took it easy enough after her spay.

One thing you may want to keep in mind, however, is that when Milo gets home from the vet he will smell VERY different to Pixie, and you may see some hissing, growling or spitting. If so, dab a tiny amount of vanilla extract under BOTH cats' chins and at the base of their tails. this will help get rid of the bad vet smell.

Thanks everyone!!! I'll take my cues from both of them and see if he needs some downtime or not.

Well I tried to separate them like the vet said, but try telling Milo he needed to be by himself for the night. I didn't realize his recovery would be so much easier than Pixie's was when she was spayed. I guess it's just the difference between the 2 procedures. He's pretty much back to normal after a few hours, though I'm definitely trying to keep his activity to a minimum. Thanks again for all the advice!

Truthfully male cats hardly notice what happened, but with female because you have to go into the abdominal cavity it is a longer recovery.
