I was able to get my birthday wish early this year. A full DVD/CD collection of Peter Paul & Mary called Carry It On.

I grew up with their music, admiring what they stood for, and how they became so active in so many causes- Cuba, El Salvador, the march on Washington for Equal Rights, always their music carried such important messages. They are so much a pivotal piece of American History. I can't wait for the package to arrive. What a treat!
For me anyway!

Good for you, it's alway's nice to get something you really want for yourself.
I got tickets to go see Elton John for myself and used the excuse it's my hubby's BD lol

Oh, what a wonderful gift! I know you're going to enjoy it soooo much when it shows up. You'll have to let us all know if it's as good (or better!) than you thought!!!

Okay please don't yell at me for being clueless but what other songs do they sing?

They were THE folk-pop group of the 60's. They covered Puff, but everything else they did was original work. They were the ones who authored the very famous Leaving on a Jet Plane. Do you know that one?

What I like about them is they took seven years off way back when, and when they came back for their first return concert they sold out and got a standing ovation before they even sang a note!

There songs are so many- El Salvador- The Wedding Song- Blowin in the Wind-Jesus on the Wire (about Matthew Shepherd) - really they were the activist's voices in song- any cause that was unfair, any american policy on foreign soil they didn't agree with- it all became a song-
