Well tomorrow is a big clean out from our refrigerator and i have no idea what to cook.
We have fresh broccoli, capsicum, cabbage and carrots.
The carrots are for the bunny
Ive planned to cook the capsicum into a pasta dish.
But i dont know what to do with the cabbage

My bf doesnt like it the way my mum makes it which means cutting up the cabbage, boil it and then drain add butter.
So how can i make the cabbage?
How do you eat your cabbage? i know most people dont like it..

I don't really eat cabbage, but when I do I shred it and stir fry it with steamed chow mein noodles and chicken etc. -just had that last night actually.

I cut it up and place it in a pot, peel some potatos and cut those and well along with some carrots and a link of sausage. Boil it. Add salt and pepper and it's very good.

There's no place like home
My friend makes potato cakes with cabbage: combine mashed potatoes, an egg and some shredded cabbage into patties and fry it up with salt and pepper.

I make oriental cole slaw:

Combine in a bowl and leave in fridge overnight:
1 head cabbage, thinly sliced
1 bunch green onions, chopped

Blend well together and store overnight:
1/2 cup oil
1/4 cup vinegar
2 tbsp soy sauce

A few hours before serving, lightly brown in 2 tbsp butter:
1 small package slivered almonds
1/8 cup sesame seeds
1 package Ramon Noodles, crunched

Drain on paper towels for about 2-3 hours

Toss everything together about 1/2 hour before serving. Reblend the oil/vinegar mixture before you do this.

This is a meal in itself. It's better in summer because it is so refreshing, and even people who don't much care for cabbage love this dish.

is that really russian? i don't know. I'm russian, and we make 'pirozki' (stuffed bread rolls with cabbage) but never like you said.

In our house the favorite meal out of cabbage is raw sliced cabbage mixed with pickled cabbage and fried on a skillet until it turns light brown - YUM!

Halushki. (I think I spelled that right. I've never been good with Slovak words.) It's shredded cabbage fried in butter and served with egg noodles.
Just remember what cabbage gives you! He he.

I prefer my cabbage raw, as cole slaw or a small amount grated and added to a mixed green salad. Or I grate it and add with other raw vegetables (such as carrots, green or red bell peppers, zuchini, onions, broccoli, cauliflower) to a gelatin salad. I use 1-3/4 cups apple juice or white grape juice, 2 Tbsp. lemon juice, and one package of unflavored gelatin instead of Jello or other low-nutrition commercial products with about 1½ cups grated or finely chopped vegetables.

Cabbage is one of my favorite veggies, in fact very few days go by when I haven't eaten it! I enjoy it raw, sometimes in vinegar, sometimes with oil and vinegar as a salad, most often just as it is.
