How to teach your cat to use the potty?

I would really like to teach our cats to use the potty instead of the litter box.

I think that our oldest cat would be very open to this, because he hangs on the edge of the litter box anyways to use it both #1 and #2. We would still have a litter box because one of the younger cats Geo has problems balancing and walking so he would not be able to use the potty i don't think atleast not with out getting soaked.

Has anyone tried this and have you had success? and of course any advice?

I have heard from more than several people that the cats will pee in the toilet but not poop. So they have advised me to let people know to save their money and their time and keep the litter pans and not buy the kits out there that allow cats to use the toilet.

I had an ex-girlfriend who taught one of her cats to do it. It is not a matter of the cat's intelligence, it is more about temperment.

Advice: Only give it a try if you have lots of spare time on your hands and also an extra bathroom to "tie up" while this potty training is in progress.

My question is: If you have a multi-cat household, and won't be able to train all of them, then what is the point in potty training one (or some) of them?
