I'm not sure if this thread has been started before, but I thought it might be fun to talk about some of the bosses we've all had over the years.

I would have to say, I've been pretty lucky with the people I've worked for - my first long-term boss ended up being the best man at our wedding, and the boss I have now is just the most remarkable, kind-hearted, funny and professional man I have ever had the pleasure to work with. He is more a friend than anything else, and he is a classic example of ruling by the heart, not the fist (which is a very old-fashioned way of putting it!!).

I respect and admire him, so as a result I work my hardest for him. If he was horrible or I was afraid of him things would be a lot different, I'm sure.

What do you guys think of your "superiors"??

Well, I guess I can post this and not worry that she might see it since yesterday was my last day!!! (YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

My boss was a COMPLETE COW!!!! I won't get into what I don't like about her (well, its not that hard I didn't like very much at all about her) but I am glad that I never have to answer to her again!

Other than her, most of my previous bosses were generally ok. I had one who had his moments but other than that I really can't complain

I had only one boss before, and I didn't get much to see him everyday cause I was working online so I didn't able to get to know him. But I would say he is ok, didn't have a problem at all.

I don't know what will my employees will tell about me when I was their boss when I was a boss two years ago.

My boss can be too good to his employees at times. I've seen it so many times over the years where we have employees who don't come in on a monday because they've partied all weekend, and even though they get written warnings, they should really be out the front door from the amount they've had, but because their good workers he keeps them on.

BUT!!, he will only be taken for a ride for so long before he decides to terminate their contracts completely.

I've been here for nearly 30 years and he's always been fair with me and vice versa, plus it's a family business so i've watched his kids grow up from being babies, and his wife always tells me i'm part of the fittings now

My first boss looked half his age and always smoked a pipe. He was fair with his employees though.
My present boss is my FIL. A very nice and kind man. Three years ago, he treated the staff to a weekend trip to Hong Kong, all expenses paid.

My best boss was Chuck. He was always trying to get me raises

Worst boss totally incompedent but he hid it well at first. One of my job evaluations was totally about his time in Viet Nam and absolutly noting to do about me.

Worked for my dad for a lot of years and asked for a day off to go see Van Hallen Monsters of Rock. And my dad said if you want days off go work for someone else. So I took a job telemarketing. Totally fun at first!!!! But it got old fast. Especially when it got bought out by a more serious company that would not let us throw things at each other or give each other back rubs any more.

LOL!! That is great!!

I can confidently say I LOVE my boss. I admire her and what she does so much. She was our school district's principal of the year this year, and she was so deserving of the honor. Unfortunately, she is retiring this year and someone new will be filling her shoes this summer. I am glad I am fortunate enough to say I had the opportunity to work with her for 2 years.

Well I have two bosses - one being my dad and the other his business partner. My dad and I have worked together 5 years now, and he's never given me any favours, i've worked very hard to end up where I am. We get along famously and have very similar business ideas. He merged businesses with his partner about 2 years ago. He grates on my nerves something cruel. I guess mainly because he's chauvenistic and has some very odd ideas. Oh well.

And as for what my staff think of ME (I have 6 people under me) HA!!!! I know there's varying opinions, one has become a dear friend after some initial teething problems, and I know some find me intimidating at times, but I know they all think i'm a fair boss and respect me (well i'm pretty sure! hahahah)

Well let's see...

In high school I worked at a place called Bikini Co where all the employees were other high school girls and this store was right along the beach. Our boss owned that store and one more in Port Orange. She was an odd bird that's for sure. Sometimes she'd be nice to everyone, telling us all jokes or whatever and suddenly the next she's in a bad mood and annoyed for the whole day. She used to say that I was a slowpoke the way I just wandered around the store. I wanted to be like, "What do you expect lady I'm 17 years old working at a bikini store run by an old hippie?!"
It was SO much fun though. And believe me, she WAS a hippie! To the EXTREME.

Current bosses...

At the visitation center: She's only 25 I believe and gets along with everyone at the center. She actually started in the same job most of us are in so it works out nicely.

At the gym: My boss has been a friend of mine since middle school!! The Group Exercise Coordinator is a girl I went to middle school with, then high school (and was on the dance team with all 4 years), and now college. So, needless to say, we get along just fine and I can get away with a whole heck of a lot!

I have had some really good ones and some really awful ones over the years.
The guy that taught me body piercing was a great boss. He was fun, and treated us well. He is a real character. My s/o and I both worked for him. We ran his second tattoo shop, while he ran the first one. If you watch Monster Garage, he was on the recent one that they chopped and lowered an old Ford. He was wearing his Krazy Kat Tattoo shirt.
My boss at Hobby Lobby in Kansas City was a total sweetheart.
My current boss is a real doll. I hope to be working for her for a long time. I have even forgiven her for not liking cats. (She has had bad experiences.) There is a big tomcat that live behind the salon, and it bit someone, so she is afraid of it. It chases her to her car sometimes. She isn't mean to them, so it's ok. She had forbade us to feed the ferals outside, but she has lifted that rule. I'll win her over to our side eventually. She looks like she should have a big, fluffy kitty to spoil!

Which boss, I have too many! At my job I have one boss, the guy that hired me, one that makes up the schedules and keeps tabs on me and other mini bosses. My boss that hired me I think is a joke... he has too many others jobs to know what's going on in my department, he thinks my co-worker is a miracle boy, the end all be all of cg operators, even though he shows up late every day, slacks off, sometimes doesn't even bother coming in. It's ridiculous.

The one that makes up the schedules is okay, but he lets things slide, like my co-worker's constant tardiness. That and he changed the schedule for this week without even asking if I could work it.. grrr.

Let's see, my boss now, who has been my boss for 4 years, is awesome. He's hardly ever here, delegates everything to all of us who support him (which is what higher-ups do), and is kind and almost aloof on most days when he IS here. I work alone & am trusted with just about everything here. What's not to like? He's fun & the guys I work with are awesome.

My boss at the job I held before this one, I had a huge crush on him. His name was Marty. I only worked there for 1.5 yrs and he was married, but secretly, boy I thought about him alot. Huge crush. The only reason I hated leaving that job was because I wouldn't get to stare at him every day. Honest!

The boss at my job before that, spanning 5 yrs, was extremely professional, to the point of me wondering if he ever smiled or even owned a pair of jeans. He was not only strict (was fearful of me leaving the office to go pee because a live voice wouldn't be there to answer the phones), but he was so very high up in society, I hated when his friends would come to the office & visit. He was a snob. I only stayed so long cuz I worked alone & got paid well.

Before that it was meaningless jobs, I didn't care nothing about the boss OR the paycheck because none of that mattered... had too many issues at home to worry about my career.

My boss is splendid. Linear thinking, calm, direct, on time, involved, visionary, I get lots of raises, she understands my 90 minute commute, she's on time, she has a great, accurate memory.

*incense is now lighted, deep breathing begins, look at the Spring flowers, imagine good things, think of new kittens.....chocolate.....a warm fire.......*

Mommy, why is that lady hurling herself out of the 22nd floor windows????

My boss is wishy-washy....you never know where you stand. He basis decisions on his mood at that point in time. But hes likeable...we all have imperfections...some annoy me more than others.

My boss is awesome. He's kind, caring, very involved with the employees, one of the most ethical people I've ever met. He's smart, compassionate and we all respect him immensely. He really cares. He's even offered me a place to live (I'm currently searching for a new apartment).

I couldn't ask for a better boss! Or a better job!
