It was time to refill the buckets of food that I use for the feral cats. My indoor babies get really excited about this, and usually surround the buckets as I fill them to try to snatch a morsel of food or 2 before I close up the bins. I think they believe it is junk food, as the ferals only get Purina Cat Chow versus the premium food I use inside.

Here are 8 of my crew - 3 walked away by the time my husband grabbed the camera to get the shot. I was ROFL at the cat-manity of it all.

Clockwise starting with the grey cat on the left side: Dakota, Pinky, Stumpy, Muddy, Sage, Bob, Oscar and Spanky.

The one that looks the largest (Pinky, fluffy red one on left side) is actually the same weight as the cat to the immediate right (Stumpy). Pinky has so much hair that he just looks big - both are 14 pounds. The largest in the picture is Spanky (ginger and white in front of the left bucket), who we are trying to slim down. He is currently 15 pounds and a little chunko. Our biggest boy Tigger just walked out of the picture before we took it - he's 18 pounds and actually not overweight, just a big cat.

Believe it or not, the rest of these cats are between 9 and 11 pounds. Very average weights and they all get a lot of exercise. Spring shedding hasn't started yet so they are still a bit fluffy from winter.

Of course the girls wouldn't show up in the picture (too dignified to lower themselves to eating food out of a bucket). 3 of them are very petite and in the 6-7 pound range. Muddy's sister is the largest at 9 pounds.

I love my gang!!

Wow at all of the orange babies!!They are all beautiful.

My cats do the same thing to the "junk" cat food I feed my ferals.
Only mine like to tear open the darn bag..so when I buy it and bring it home I have to put it straight into jugs or they will be in it eating.LOL.

Which they also like to tear into the fresh bag of their food when they have the very same thing in their bowl...but I guess they want the fresh stuff.LOL.Silly kitties.

That is EXACTLY why I transfer the bags into the plastic bins. I brought this bag in the house and placed it next to the bins by the door. I'm sitting in the living room when I hear the distinct sound of a cat ripping open a bag followed by a *crunch crunch crunch* sound - it was Pinky this time.

So I opened the bag and poured them into the bins. That is when they all came running.

I guess I do love tabbies. There are 3 more tabbies that didn't make the picture.

LOL.I know the familiar sound of that as well.

HeHe.. I know that sound as well!!!! Funny thing is----for Miles, there doesn't have to be anything in the bag
!!! He's my "personal paper shredder"!!! He'll tear bags, newspapers (multiple-layers!), even cardboard. He seems to do this with a very purposeful attitude.....concentrating, so as to do his very best, as though someone might be coming by later to inspect his "work".
I just have to be careful not to let anything land on the floor that doesn't need his "expertise".

mine are the same way - the ferals get supermarket food, whatever's on sale - good brands, but still... Pixel & Cable get Felidae, & have also had Natural Balance in the past. but they act like the cheap stuff is fantastically delicious!
i can even decoy Cable away from the screen door when i go out by tossing a few pieces on the floor.
