So I was playing with Waffle when she darts off and Brendan yells for me. I turn around and see that my darling Waffle had spotted a GIANT cockroach in the living room. She's a GREAT bugspotter. Anyway, I'm PETRIFIED of bugs and spiders!!! Not because I think they will hurt me, it's not that at all, it's because they disgust me to the point of terrifying me!!! Thank god Brendan was there or this roach would have been able to hold me captive in my own apartment! As it was I was able to dart off and hide while he took care of it.

Obviously being terrified of bugs and spiders because of their sheer disgustingness qualifies as a phobia, so I was wondering, do you guys have any completely irrational fears? Anything that just paralyzes you at the sight/thought/mention of it??

Creepy crawlies are by FAR my biggest phobia.

Spiders....Ugh...Makes me shudder at the mere thought of them....I don't even like to look at or be near a dead one.

I agree with the doctor one, although with me it's more male doctors (I haven't a clue why, I've never been abused or anything). I don't freeze, but if they touch me anywhere (arm, side, etc) I get really trembly and nervous.

Then again I'm just sorta afraid of people
cats are so much easier.

Yeah Stephanie, that's gotta be a tough one if you get sick enough to need a doctor.

I have a fear of heights. I try to ignore it when I'm climing up on the roof of my house to put up Christmas lights, but I'm always on high alert around high places. So, even if I'm leaning over a balcony and I look fine, it is not the perfect time to start a tickle fight.

I am beyond terrified of insects, spiders in particular. I freak out (like scream and wave my arms around) if I just see a spider web.

Yup...SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS SPIDERS

I can deal with them (just) when they aren't moving, but the moment they start scuttling/creeping along I just want to scream. I can't bear it they give me horror shivers and gooseflesh all over my body and I feel like I am trying to writhe out of my own skin. Ugggghhhhh.....

I am afraid of many things. I've developed a new fear this week - the fear of being in The Member Spotlight and having to answer all Ryan's questions

Sorry Chris, I had to laugh at that one! I'm sure glad that I already have been in the Spotlight!

Bugs don't bug me much. BUT

Spiders do
I'm scared of heights and very tall, narrow bridges

Spiders - I don't even like to type the word. But once when I was visiting a new acquaintance she left me int he living room while she made coffee. I felt a movemetn and found I was sharing hte couch with one large s....... I was trying to be polite and I really forced myself to sit still, and then I saw a neswpaper ont he table. So I shut my eyes and hit it hard witht he rolled up paper, killing it dead. That was the first time I had ever done anything like that and I was feeling so proud. When my new friend came back, I apologised for using her paper like that and she freaked out. Turned out she was a Buddhist and I had just committed the worst taboo, killing something in her house. I was never invited again.
