ever since prowler got back from the vet, she has not left my lap. She has never been a needy kitty like this, always wanting our lap, she just usually lays at our feet or by our side. I have to wonder what traumatized her to this extent to want to be a permanent lap emblem ?

You know better than that
She just wants her Meowmy right now to cuddle her and knows you need her, too!
I will remind you of this post when she's climbing the curtains a month from now.

That's what Baylee did the first few days/week after she got spayed. Maybe they both just feel/felt a bit needy because they're/were hurting a bit. I'm sure in a few months she'll be running all over the place and you'll be *wishing* she was a lapcat again... I know I miss when Baylee was my lapcat...

Maybe I need to send Buddy back to the vet so he will come home and love my lap more.... naaaa.. somehow I think he is so outgoing he would just enjoy a vet trip, grin. I envy you, enjoy it while it lasts!

hmmmmm.... I'm sensing very strongly that she is feeling Taz's demise and is picking up some very noticeable sadness of yours, MA. I can't ignore what I am feeling. Smother her with attention and talk to her. She also might be feeling some residual tenderness - keep an eye out for that, but I strongly sense it is the change in the atmosphere.
She just needs you right now. Post an update please?

That sounds so likely- she must know how sad you are feeling.

Perhaps she still feels discomfort from her surgery?

When Skinny was spayed she would never leave me alone. It turned out the vet (or I should say the vet student) botched in the stitching. After I brought her back and they repaired the damage, Skinny was back to her normal, independent self.

You know how they can pick up on our feelings, so it could be both that and the surgery.
