My little Blackie crossed the bridge a month ago. He was 23 and had been in our family for 21 years. His parting has left an enormous gap in my life. He was always chatting. He died peacefully at home. The place is so silent now. We have 2 British shorthairs but both are very quiet.

I'm sorry for the loss of your beloved Blackie

Sounds like you did good by him, that he lived 23 years is a testament to the great love you had for him. You will be in my thoughts.

It was awful when he died. I miss him terribly. He was always chatting. It was early on a Sunday morning. We were going to take him to the vet when he just jumped onto the settee, sighed and then 'went to sleep'. It couldn't have been more peaceful. But it was a great shock.

my heart aches with you during this time. My first cat growing up was also called Blackie, and he passed away in similar circumstances when the vet trip was planned.

how wonderful though that he passed on at home - in the place where he knew how much he was loved, and he spent 21 years there - 23 years is an amazing long life for Blackie and is proof of how much he was loved

There are many of us here that can join in your sorrow at this time. It takes time but it will become easier. Your tears will become smiles as you remember the happy times

Blackie is forever watching over you in the place where he is now healthy and chasing the butterflies and mice forever.... he will wait there until he sees you again and once more you will be reunited.

Enjoy your wings

RIP angel Blackie

Thanx for your posting. It's nice to know other people understand instead of being told - he was just a cat. May be so but he was still a good friend.

You are right -- they are our good friends and members of our family. I lost my buddy this week after living with him nearly 18 years, so I do know your pain. You have my sincerest sympathies.

Cherish your good memories of him... in time the hurts will subside.
You are in my thoughts...

Amy

I too lost a loud Siamese two years ago. Although I had another cat in the house, the Siamese had been the loud, companion cat, who always hung out with me. After Simmi's passing, my 2nd cat seemed to realize her special place in my heart, and began to take on similar behaviors. Goldie soon learned to meow loudly in the middle of the night to wake us up, insisted in getting in bed, she really found her place in the house. I would have never thought she would have filled the spot, but she really helped take away the heartache [which has really never gone away!]. It's crazy what these babies will do to you... each one has their own special place in my heart.

I am so sorry you lost Blackie. I also lost my "talker" Mr. Butch, he was almost as loud and bossy as a siamese. Jasper has begun to talk more since his passing, but his voice is very small and quiet, especially compaired to Butch's. I know what a huge hole they leave, it is like losing your child. My heart goes out to you in your time of grief. Blackie will be waiting to be reunited at the bridge when the time comes. Hugs

Oh, I KNOW this hurts! 23 years! You took such good care of him. I know he is happy and healthy now, playing at The Rainbow Bridge, waiting for you.
Bless you and your kitties you have now. I know they are a comfort to you.
