We all know that our cats go crazy of the scent of Catnip but I was wondering if anyone has noticed another scent that their cat's are attracted to... Today I came home and Malakai jumped up on the desk to say hello and he started sniffing my hands and licking them... I couldnt figure out what he was so interested in until I smelled my hands and realized that they smelled like gasoline because I had filled up on my way home... Another scent that he sniffs out is Adrian's cologne.... Sometimes my cell phone will smell like his cologne after he's been using it and Malakai will start to bite at it when I'm holding it... or he'll sniff me if I smell like Adrian from hugging him...

So, how bout your cats??

My cats are weird! They love to smell our dirty laundry and roll in it. They sniff and try to lick our underarms. As far as foods go, when they smell chicken or cooked cheese (as in pizza bagels) they go beserk for it. Butter is another favorite.

They do NOT like the smell of Wasabi! Khepera sniffed an open jar of wasabi mayonnaise once and the face he made was hilarious. "Why the heck are you eating something that smells like THAT?"

Oliver made the funniest face at fresh basil...of course, he was expecting fresh catnip!

Both of them LOVE laundry while its still fresh in the basket. I used to think it was because of the warmth, but now I go to the laundrymat and shopping afterward, so it has cooled off. Must be the fresh detergent smell.
They like the smell of shoes too.

Miss Jessie LOVES peppermint oil. She goes totally bonkers when I rub it on my feet. she will even lick the floor after I've walked there, cuz she smells the oil.

My mom has a cat who sleeps with her face buried in shoes. Smelly shoes.

Then there's KC; who every single night, pushes her mouth into my scalp & nuzzles my hair & gets all tangled up in it. she loves the smell of scalps, especially if you just washed your hair!

Snickers has a catnip sock I made for him; sometimes I'll see him take off with a dirty sock that my daughter left laying around. He will grab it and just go off with it like it's the best thing in the world!

I'd also have to say shoes. When Jamie was little, we often found him curled up inside one of my husband's shoes, and he still loves to sniff them and rub himself all over them.
He also seems to love the smell of shampoo.

Princess and Patsy both have absolutely no interest in catnip. I've brought the dried packaged stuff from the petstore and even tried a catnip plant and Patsy or Princess gave me a look like "You want me to do what with this?"

As far as other smells Patsy loves the smell of just about any food. Princess loves to smell EVERYTHING she can. Every bag, box, person, ect...gets a thorough sniff down whenever they enter the house. Princess will spend hours every day walking around sniffing everything in the house. She's a very strange cat sometimes (but I love her).

Both my boys loves shoes, smelly shoes...yuck.

Gandalf loves the smell of Tator Tot Caserole.

Samwise loves the smell of the dryer sheets I use to the point he will hope into the dryer to get to them. He also has been known to snuggle against the box.

Gandalf also loves the berry scented bubble bath I use, he'll sit on the edge of the tub and sniff and sniff.

Well, naturally the catnip, but mine seem to have a thing for dirty laundry...they like to curl up in the dirty laundry hampers when I've sorted. And we once had a cat, Jezebel, who seemed to have a thing for the smell of bleach. She'd go nuts and start rolling around on any surface that had recently been cleaned with it.

Dink seems to like dryer sheets too. He really loves to play with them when I toss them out of a hamper of clean clothes that I'm about to fold. Just has the best time with them.

Joji knows when someone is having vanilla ice cream!
Skinny's scent radar always points to tuna!
I'm not sure about QT and Wawa.

My sweet little Sonny who passed last year loved the scent/taste of mangos and peaches, which I would share with him. He also had a weird attraction to the moisturizer that I use in the evenings before bed, and would always try to lick it off of my face.

Pearl goes crazy over Ben-Gay. I have been awakened several times with her either licking frantically where I have put it, or pulling at my clothes to get to it. They all love the smell of Vick's Vap-O-Rub.

Nothing gets Scarlett running quicker than the smell of pork. Doesn't matter if it hidden within Italian sausage within a plate of spaghetti - she comes to you everytime. I made the mistake of giving her a bite of a BBQ pork sandwich one time last year and made a monster out of her.

Dakota and Sage love the smell of dirty laundry. They carry it around the house with them.

If plastic has a smell, I'd say that Koko is attracted to that smell.
