I try to do at least 30 minutes of excersise per day, although I do not need to lose weight I do need to keep fit. I'm walking down to my Nanas house very soon so that will be my excersise for today!

Hooooraaaay Fran!!!!!
I bet you are so excited!!!!

I dunno when I last was here, but Thursday my personal trainer had to call and cancel. So I did not go to the gym Thursday or yesterday.
But my trainer did reschedule for time morning at 8:00am, so I am about to head over there in a few!

I just bought two of Billy Blanks Tae Bo DVD's, I thinks it's so cool and I love doing it, but I find it hard to keep up.... sometimes I just give up half way through it
and then I won't do it for a couple of days. I want to get in good shape before the summer is here. Maybe I should just stick to Yoga

Welcome to the workout thread!
First, I just want to say that your furbaby is too adorable!!

The number one thing with excercise is not to overdo it. If you are finding it hard to keep up take a break, drink some water, jog in place. You don't want to go into burnout mode to quickly. I am sure as you do the video more and more those things you were unable to do before will become easier.

I hear yoga is wonderful. Marge is our resident yoga expert.
I am sure she has lots of great things to say about her class and the workout she gets there.

Happy Monday everyone!
Melissa, welcome to the thread! Tae Bo videos are great, but it takes a while to build up the endurance needed to get through them, especially the advanced workout. Stick with us and we'll help you with motivation in any way we can

Yeah for Fran and her stepper!
How goes it so far?
Beryl, tsk tsk on your trainer cancelling on you!
I hope everything is OK with him/her though.
Anyone work out this weekend?
I plan on hitting Curves Tues. through Thurs. I have a lot of cleaning to do at the apt. today since I was out of town all weekend. Hey, vacuuming burns calories!

Did upper body exercises on my yourself fitness game! And then increased my walking 5 mins to 35 mins this week!
It is so hot out there, that it feels great!

Fran, I don't know how long you need to use your stepper.

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the welcome the other day. So much for my initial resolve.
No walking this weekend. Plus we had a big family gathering that involved a lot of good food.

I'm just getting ready to walk to the pharmacy down the street and will take an extra block or two. Also, I'm planning to walk to our foster home tonight (probably about 3/4 mile) to play with the kittens.

Does cutting the grass count as a workout? I have good size hill in the back yard.

Also, does anyone have any experience with the lateral thigh trainer? I've never ordered anything via TV, but it looks like it would work my problems areas.
Thanks!
Eileen

Hmmm....this is my philosophy: if you are not incredibly sore the day after using your stepper, it's probably safe to use it every other day. The reason I do not recommend using it every day is b/c your body can get too used to certain exercises and they will have little affect. On your "off" days from the stepper, maybe do toning exercises such as lunges, squats, and crunches.
Kelly, you are doing so wonderful. My co-worker is so intrigued by that workout "game", she's considering buying it, too.
Eileen, mowing the lawn definitely counts as exercise (as long as it's a manual mower
) Walking places instead of driving or taking the bus is a great form of exercise. Way to go with that
Just be careful walking after dark!

Hello,
Sounds like most of us had either a good workout or a good time!!
Friday nite -after being tired all day I still did yard work for about an hour then used my new armband radio (which was my prize for losing 10# fater than my hubby) and ran a little less about 2.6 miles. Sat we went to our farm and I worked on cleaning up and pruning the ancient apple trees on the property. I wore shorts which in hindsight was a mistake as the area from the end of my shorts to my socks is pretty scratched up plus some assorted bruises. We were there from 10-5 so I figure I worked a good 6 of those hours. We stopped at Dairy Queen for "supper". Yesterday I cleaned out my garden shed and moved my seedlings from the house I did this basically all day. So my feet were sore from standing. All in all lots of activity for me. But sore and tired as usual.

Awesome work everyone! It sounds like everyone is doing well with their workouts!!

I'm about to head out to do some cardio. Probably only about 30-40 min. though as I have a bunch of homework to do tonight and a long day tomorrow. This week is the last week of classes this semester and next week will be finals! After next week I'll be off from teaching any classes for two whole weeks before I start up again over the summer semesters!!! Hopefully after those two weeks I won't be too out of shape. It doesn't take long though to lose all that hard work, as I'm sure you all know!

Anyway, have a great week everyone!

quick update as I am really busy, but I want to keep myself accountable.
I worked out for 90 min Sat (60 min with trainer and then a 30 min cardio session). Sunday I did nothing. Now I am off for cardio in a few. I think I will be stuck at the gym for 60 min. We'll see if I can survive that long!

Just got back from the gym! I actually was there for a little bit over an hour instead of just half an hour. I realized that I hadn't had a chance to do much cardio lately so I guess I was trying to make up for lost time.

This is directed to everyone on the thread: Approximately how many hours a week do you spend getting in any sort of exercise?
My personal estimate is about 2.5 hours....
