I am familiar with pilates and have a few workout DVDs. I would like to try yoga. Does anyone have any yoga DVDs that are recommended for a beginner?

I personally recommend taking a class that has a hands on teacher for yoga. I did videos before but boy I get so much more out of the class, and I hear this all the time.

Weekend update...

Saturday I was in a rather manic mode. So 9 am comes and I'm outside, with a scrub brush and bucket. I spent about 3 hours scrubbing my siding and the cement floor. It's so purdy now.
But my arms hurt like crazy.

Sunday I went to visit my mom and we took Sam the dog for a walk. It was a nice walk actually, only about a mile and a half, but there were a good many dips and bumps and hills.

Monday, I inadvertantly worked my arms again. Well at least my right one. I used a carpet scrubber on 3 rooms and a hallway. Those things are HEAVY.

Tusday I went for my walk, about a mile, but I took a different route and went up a huge hill. From the top you can look down on the creek meandering by. Very pretty.

So, while I haven't got my walk in everyday, I have done something physical, which is good. Today doesn't look promising though. I am at work until 5:30 and then night class from 6:30 to 9.

I think I may want to try that Fried chicken diet too! I love fried chicken!!!

Good luck everyone on getting out there and getting exercise today! Its a beautiful day here... hopefully the same goes to all of you!

Unfortunatly I won't be going to the gym again today since I don't have a ride. Fingers crossed, hubby is going to look at a truck today and will make the gentleman an offer. It is an 'old' truck with a small oil leak so hopefully he can use that to talk the guy down. Having one car is TORTURE. Now there is no way I can lose more weight before the ball.

Amy, I don't think I congratulated you yet for your AWESOME weigh/measurement day at Curves! YOU DID FANTASTICK!!! I saw your picture and you didn't need to lose weight anyway, but isn't it great to feel firmer and stronger?
GO AMY!!!

So I cleaned up another couple flower beds-I'm down to 3 1/2 left (then weeding out the grass comes next)
Then increases my mileage on treadmill to 2.75 miles. Pushed up the mph and grade to. Ran to Donna Summer's greatest hits-very motivating.
I need this as I have not lost ANY WEIGHT in the past two weeks.
So I have to pump up the running a bit and decrease the calories to break it!!
Windy again today so will be treadmilling it again tonite.

So I hope everyones workout and walking goes well today........

Beth, I am sorry your life revolves around someone else being able to take you somewhere. I could not imagine.

I had a rough day at work. I don't feel like doing much. But I know i really should go to the gym. I may just go for a liesurely walk instead since the weather is beautiful. I will do something good for my body today though!

Gail, I have not gotten on a scale in weeks and I am afraid to get back on...I fell of the South Beach Diet last month and I am worried I have steadily been gaining since I went back off. Maybe this weekend I'll get back on the scale. I know I should decrease my calories and watch my diet a little better, but right now I just don't have the motivation to do it all.

I went to yoga last night as usual, and I am wiped again. She really worked our upper body. It feels good but I am still adjusting. I might just hang low tonight.

Welcome Sam! We're so glad you popped in.

Yesterday Brendan and I took about a 30 min walk around the lake in our neighborhood.

Today I am in for it. I have to go see my trainer after work. I just hurt thinking about it. (I only have 3 more sessions with him -- and then I am going to need all the motivation I can get from you all to keep pushing myself like he does!!!)

Well I cleaned up another flower bed and then did another 2.76 miles on the treadmill and cut the running time down by 2 minutes!!
Of course I celebrated by having a small bag of microwave popcorn and a 7 oz bottle of Rolling Rock.

Popcorn is actually good on diets. They are empty calories. When I was on weightwatchers I could have a HUGE bag of the 98% ff for like 1 point. It was great. Filled me up with little point value.
