Well, you're the one who motivated me to go back!
Members at my Curves have lost a total of 2hundred something pounds in March. I'm sure they're losing at your Curves too. They might not have a bell.

Last night was fun. Some of the more athletic members were there and we were kind of playing follow the leader on the recovery stations.

Have a good workout, Amy!

I have a bad case of TGIF!! I am soooo tired.
I am not sure if the gym is in my future. If I don't go tonight though, I will definitely be there tomorrow.

Ooh, "follow the leader" sounds like fun for the recovery stations. What do you tend to do on those anyway? They don't like us jogging on them, so I always do leg lifts (with a little bit of hopping to get more cardio in), leg extensions, leg curls, etc.
That is awesome that your folks lost over 200 lbs. in March. That is quite an inspiration.
Keep it up "Jockcat"

Hey, question for everyone. Do you think once I'm able to change my TCS title from Top Cat to something else, I should change it to TCS Workout Motivator or something along those lines?

We can do anything we want on the recovery stations. I usually jog, but sometimes dance, leg curls, or "step."
YES - TCS Workout Motivator is GREAT!

Well - gotta go. I'm leaving early today!

So why am I grinning about GAINING weight? I'll tell you why.
Every month, Curves has us weighed and measured. When I was weighed today, I found out I gained 3 pounds (I'm now at 121...was 118 when I joined Curves). So at that point, I'm starting to freak out. SO THEN we go to the measurements....still no changes in inches (Bradley is happy that my bust is the same, lol
) So then we go to my % body fat....last month it was 21.6%....now it's down to 20.5% WOO HOO!
So, while I gained weight, it was MUSCLE weight and I lost fat....I could not be happier!!! Hopefully, this will inspire others to get off the couch and get moving. You'll be SO GLAD you did!!!!

For any of you who have done yoga in a class, can I ask if you have had similar experiences ihave?

I really get wiped by it, I mean it feels great but after an extensive stretching, posture session and a solid nights sleep the next day I feel like one of those dolls where the string is suddenly relaxed and they go limp. I also get pretty emotional sometimes after a session, which I understand is common because the theory is you store emotions in your body and are now releasing them.

I've done Pilates classes, which are similar to yoga. I would always leave feeling peaceful and fulfilled.... maybe I was doing it wrong?
I dunno, how long have you been doing yoga? Is your instructor certified to teach yoga? Hopefully your instructor is not working you all incorrectly.
Katherine? Any sage words here?

As long as the clothes are fitting better -and body fat getting lower who cares about the scales!!
Started cleaning up another flower bed last nite 1 hr 10min then did 36 minutes on treadmill and a little higher grade and a little faster. Survivor was on so I couldn't run outside. Plus there was a farmer spreading manure on the field across from me and man it was ripe smelling outside!! WOW.
Plus went to Barnes & Noble during lunch and cruised over to coffee counter and looked at desserts fondly-but didn't get one.
Maybe more yard clean up tonite-not sure yet
But walk/running this weekend for sure (and yes more yard clean-up)
Does anyone run with a radio??? It motivates me more if I listen to music but I would need to get a new one just for running???? Any suggestions???

Have a good workout weekend everyone.

Gail, way to go with the cardio and yardwork! And EXCELLENT willpower and B&N!

When I was running last year (that was short-lived!) I didn't have a good Walkman, so I ran without music
But music DEFINITELY passes the time better. They're expensive, but I think those ipod minis are specifically designed for things such as working out...

I MUST listen to music when I workout. No ifs ands or buts about it. I just got an Ipod shuffle back in Feb. from my parents and i love it. it stores a great amount and variety of music, and so far the battery life has been really good too. They are also more inexpensive than the other ipods ($100 instead of $250 - $500)

Mind/body classes like Yoga and Pilates can have very different effects on different people. I wouldn't be too worried about it Marge, as long as you're not feeling any kind of new and unexplained pain, it's probably ok. As long as you're at a legit gym, the yoga instructor HAS to have a specific yoga certification and has to renew it every 2 years (meaning they have to do a bunch of continuing education workshops and seminars). It may just be that your reaction is emotional. If you don't mind this reaction, I wouldn't worry about it, if it bothers you or makes you uncomfortable, simply talk to your yoga instructor right before or after class. As instructors we HAVE to make ourselves available to answer questions about the class. While I can't always answer all questions that get posed to me, I always do my best as I want people to keep coming back, so I'm sure your instructor will do the same. Hope that helps a bit.

MP3 players are the way to go, and that doesn't necessarily mean anything to do with IPod. IPods are very expensive and while they are quite nice, you can get a great MP3 player for much less with plenty of storage space and wonderful sound quality. I have a SanDisk player myself and the sound is just incredible. It stores far more music than I could listen to in a few cardio trips (which are usually 40 min at a time for me) so there's plenty of space. If I were you I would just check out all of the various MP3 players and find out which one might be best for you. Circuit City has a large selection and the people there can answer any questions you may have. That's where mine came from (as Brendan is an employee there). Also, the vast majority of MP3 players now come with a workout armband that holds the player on your arm while you workout. It's QUITE handy!!
