YAY AMBER!!!
Welcome.

This is definitely the right place to come for motivation and ideas. I have found everyone on this thread to be very helpful and suportive of one another.

That being said, I always loved going to the stores and searching for the right workout video for me. You can find ones that work on cardio, or building, muscle, yoga, pilates, you name it you can find it.

Do you have a space at home where you might be able to pop in a video or DVD and get moving?

If not you can always turn on the radio and clean the house! That's great excercise.

Anyway, WELCOME! Its great to have another person join us in our struggles to stay fit.

Amber, welcome to our thread!!!!! It is great that you want to make this lifestyle change.I hope here you will find the motivation and support that is sometimes necessary to encourage us to work out!!
There are a few other folks that are active on this thread that may be able to recommend workouts that fit your criteria. Have you thought about joining a gym? Do you have a Curves in your town? Curves gyms are women-only, only cost $29/mo AND is a complete workout in 30 minutes!
For you, I am including in this post a great ab workout that I saw in Glamour magazine last year. The results, if you stick to it and combine it with a good diet and cardio, are great!
Again, welcome and keep checking in with us!

Do this routine at least 3 times per week. If it says to go slowly or pause, do so! That makes the workout more effective!!!
Toe Touch: Lie back, arms and legs extended up, feet flexed. Lift shoulder blades off floor and reach toward toes; pause; lower. Do 2 sets of 10 reps.
Crossover: Lie back, knees bent, and place left arm across belly and right hand behind head; rest left ankle on right knee. Cross right shoulder toward left knee; pause; lower. Do 2 sets of 10 reps. Switch sides, repeat.
Hip Up: Lie back with arms by sides, legs extended straight up. Pull belly button toward spine and lift hips off floor a few inches; pause; lower. Do 2 sets of 10 reps.
Butterfly Crunch: Lie back with the soles of your feet together, fingertips behind head. Lift shoulder blades off floor; pause; lower. Do 2 sets of 10 reps.
Reverse Crunch: Lie back, arms by sides, palms down. Bend knees and lift thighs perpendicular to floor. Contract belly muscles and slowly curl knees toward chest; pause; slowly lower. Do 2 sets of 10 reps.
Swimming: Lie facedown with arms and legs extended. Slowly lift right arm and left leg off floor; pause; lower and repeat on opposite side. Do 10 times per side.
Catch: Lie back, knees bent, feet flat on floor; position hands over lower abs as if youâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]re holding a ball. Lift shoulder blades off floor and reach hands to the outside of the left knee; pause; lower and repeat, reaching to the outside of right knee. Do 2 sets of 10 reps per side.
Plank: Lie on stomach with elbows bend, forearms resting on floor, hands in fists. Tuck toes under and lift body so itâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s in a straight line; hold for 30 seconds; lower. Do twice.
Bicycle: Lie back, knees bent, fingers laced behind head. Lift shoulder blades off floor and twist right shoulder toward left knee as you extend right leg out as shown; pause; now twist to other side. Do 2 sets of 15 reps per side.
YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!

Hey Amber. Welcome welcome. Its great to see a new person on the thread!!!

Well I just wanted to let people know that I didn't get to the gym yesterday. I normally don't go on weekends because we're out and about and with one car its hard to share when we need to do different things and the last time I was dropped off (with the promise of being picked up in an hour) it ended up being 3 hours later and me starting to walk home. LOL

Anyway I hope everyone has a wonderful day!!! Keep up the great work!!

I just got done 'working out'. I did some basic stretching and crunches... I may even do some free weights here in a little bit! It wasn't much today or yesterday, but hey, somethings better than nothing!

Unfortunately Renee, no Curves for me today. I have to go in for a CT scan of my sinuses after work and after that I have to come BACK to work until 7 (we have a busy month, since it's Child Abuse Prevention Month). BUT I will be going Tues thru Fri. That's awesome that you've caught up to the 3 workouts/week!
I did 3 in a row last week and it felt great!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK Y'ALL!!!!!!!!

Sounds like everyone's doing a great job! You all should be very happy with yourselves!

This week will be interesting for me as far as working out goes. I'll be teaching my usual 3 classes this week, going to do some cardio with Brendan on Wednesday, then on Friday I'm picking up a class and a half (one hour long Hardbodies class and one half hour Hardcore Abs) for another instructor who had done a favor for me by burning me some new aerobics CDs, and lastly Saturday is the day I'll lead the warm-up for the Relay for Life. Lots going on, so I'm hoping I'll be able to bust through it without any problems.

Hope everyone is having a great start to the work week!

Good afternoon everyone!
I know I joined this group and then haven't followed through with the typing aspect, but I did want you all to know that I'm keeping up with my exercise.
Unfortunately, I started this task at the weight of 245lbs (now I'm 240lbs) and a height of 5'5". That means I've got a long long way to go and I HATE exercise. Because of a friend at work, who is very active I have a masterplan. It's pretty simple, I started out working out once a week guarenteed. Now I'm up to two (Monday's and Thursday's). Once I get used to that routine, I'll move to Monday, Wednesday and Friday and so on.
I was able to up my number of crunches today though! I'm doing 60 instead of 40! Yippie!
HAHA, my boyfriend is taking his yearly physical training test today for work. Really, that's what he gets for being in the army...forced exercise

Here's a workout thought for the day curtosy of a good friend of mine:
"I like to think of sweat as my fat liquifying and oozing out of my body". I know it's gross, but it's actually motivational for me.
have a good workout!
Jess

Today a few things happened to me.
I´m in Frankfurt, i nealy died when i got to the trainstation.... i was sweating when i got in the train, i was puffing only by a few stairs when i got to the orthodontist.
I get out, catch the u-bahn and meet my mother (i got my bracess off today guys) and we went clothes shopping instead of the zoo....
I have rolls coming out of myy pants and didnt have a long enough jaket to cover it and i think that was very embarrasing.
when i saw my self in the full lenghth mirror i was shocked to see my belly was like jelly...... my arms were also bigger than jelly and im like >_< noooooooooooooooooo no i got my self a t shirt and a size up cheap pants....

we had lunch, i chipped my tooth on a chip, i pushed my front bottom teeth foward with the chipped tooth.
By the time i went back to the dentist to get my plate she had said she has never seen anybody get their teeth in such a weird situation because it was the "2, 3" tooth.... anyway.... i have been writing down what i have been eating in my time organiser thing....
i walked so much today that im happy with my self...
well im at my mus untill tomorrow and shes made a yummy dinner so i will be back later!!

wow! Sounds like you had quite the day!
It's so hard going clothing shopping, but just think, if you keep up all the walking you'll be looking wonderful in no time!

LET'S KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Jess, way to go increasing your workouts! I'm so glad you're joining this thread
Do you find there are any things that inhibit you from getting a workout in? Anything that messes with your motivation? Hopefully we can help with that!
Katherine, I get exhausted just thinking about you teaching all those hardbody classes. Sure Branden doesn't complain about dating an aerobics instructor, though

Yay Beth on the elliptical!

Got the gym clothes on now and am about to jet out the door and hit Curves!
